M606 speeder was caught driving at 70mph in 50mph zone

Farzana Mati, 58, was sentenced at Bradford and Keighley[1] Magistrates' Court.

She was clocked speeding at 70mph in a 50mph zone of the M606 southbound on November 20, 2022.

Mati, of Lancaster Place, Blackburn, was handed five driving licence points and fined £440.

She was also ordered to pay a £176 victim surcharge and £90 costs for the offence.

A collection order was made by the court at the sentencing hearing.

The case was dealt with in a process known as the single justice procedure, with the case decided by a single magistrate in a closed room – rather than a bench of three justices in open court - on June 1.
