M5 left partially blocked by vehicle fire – live updates

A vehicle fire partially blocked traffic on the M5 southbound. The motorway has reopened following the fire between junction 13 at Stroud and junction 14 at Thornbury as of around 8.30pm today (June 7).

Traffic was briefly halted for a time, but has since been released. However, the road remains partially blocked and traffic is restricted. Traffic monitoring system Inrix reports lane three has also been closed in the northbound direction.

Inrix reports: “M5 Southbound partially blocked due to vehicle fire from J13 A419 ( Stroud ) to J14 B4509 (Thornbury / Falfield). Traffic has been released southbound but remains restricted, lane three (of three) is also closed Northbound.”

The M5 was reopened just before 10pm.
