Three fire engines from Bury central, Whitefield and Heywood were called out to the scene at around 9am, along with the fire service’s Technical Response Unit from Ashton.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service added:

“Crews arrived quickly at scene.

“Firefighters are working to make the area safe with a 13.5 meter ladder and rope rescue equipment.

“Traffic diversions are currently in place on Rochdale Old Road.

“Firefighters have been in attendance for around an hour and half and are still at the scene.”
