Live M3 traffic live: Plumes of smoke billow above motorway as car fire blocks road

The M3 in Surrey has been blocked on Monday (June 19) after reports of a car fire on the southbound carriageway near Junction 3 for Bagshot[1] and Lightwater. National Highways traffic cameras on the motorway show thick grey smoke rising into the air at the scene.

Travel service Inrix first reported the incident shortly before 11.20am. It said: “M3 southbound blocked. Stationary traffic due to car fire after J3 A322 (Lightwater/Bagshot).”

In an update, it added: “M3 blocked, queueing traffic for two miles due to car fire from J3 A322 (Lightwater / Bagshot) to J4 A331 Blackwater Valley Route (Camberley). Just after J3.”
