Live M1 traffic news as serious crash shuts two lanes with huge rush hour queues

Two lanes are closed on the M1 as queuing traffic develops following an accident on the major motorway.

The lanes are closed between 41 A650 (Carrgate) to J42 M62 J29 (Lofthouse). It is currently unknown how serious the accident is and queuing traffic is still building up.

According to the traffic management system Inrix, the two lanes are closed on the M1 Northbound carriageway. They said: “Two lanes closed and queueing traffic due to accident on M1 Northbound from J41 A650 (Carrgate) to J42 M62 J29 (Lofthouse).”

West Yorkshire Police have been contacted for comment. As soon as an update is available it will be added to the blog.
