The North East’s weird and wonderful polling stations

Hundreds of polling stations have been set up in time for the local elections on Thursday. Most voters will cast their ballots in the usual locations, like schools, community centres, or temporary polling huts. For some, however, the venue will be a little more interesting, ranging from pubs, boxing clubs, museums, and even a windmill and tea room.

It is important to note, especially this year, you will only be allowed to cast your vote if you have some form of valid photo ID to present to polling staff. Be sure to bring it with you to avoid being turned away from the polling station.
