M1 lorry crash on Northamptonshire border forces delays and six …

An M1 crash near the Northamptonshire border forces delays and six-mile queues. One lane is closed and there is “queueing traffic for six miles” due to emergency barrier repairs and earlier accident, according to travel provider Inrix.

A lorry was involved in the incident on the northbound carriageway from J14 A509 (Milton Keynes) to J15 A45 (Northampton[1]). Travel time was 20 minutes as of 2pm today (May 12).

Lane one (of four) remains closed at this time, but the lorry has been cleared from the road and repairs to the barrier are underway. It was first reported at around 11am and emergency services, including Thames Valley Police and Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service, attended the scene.

A National Highways spokesperson previously said: “There are delays of up to 60 minutes on the M1 in Buckinghamshire / Northamptonshire between J14 (near Milton Keynes) and J15 (near Northampton) due to collision involving a lorry.

“Thames Valley Police, Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service and South Central Ambulance Service are on scene. National Highways Traffic Officers are also at scene assisting with traffic management.

“There are approximately six miles of congestion on approach to the incident. If this incident impacts on your planned route, please allow extra journey time. Plan ahead, you may wish to re-route or even delay your journey.”
