Man Charged After Crash In Desborough – HFM
Police have charged a man after a pick-up truck crashed in Desborough leaving a woman trapped inside. The driver fled after the Mitsubishi collided with a tree and overturned into a ditch, at the junction of Stoke Albany Road and Brampton Wood Lane at around 11.45pm yesterday. Northants Police say the vehicle had earlier failed to stop for officers after reports of an alleged drink driver on the A14 and a man was arrested after being located close to crash scene by a Police dog.
A spokesperson told HFM: "Officers located the grey Mitsubishi on Rothwell Road in Desborough and requested it to stop. "The vehicle failed to stop before it left the road at the junction of Stoke Albany Road and Brampton Wood Lane, collided with a tree, and rolled.
"The front seat passenger - a 23-year-old woman - was trapped in the vehicle and had to be released by the Fire Service. "She was taken to Kettering General Hospital with minor injuries." Lee Hopkins, 20, of Leicester Forest West, has been charged with failing to stop a mechanically propelled vehicle when required by a constable and failing to provide a specimen for analysis.
He has been bailed to appear before Northampton Magistrates' Court later this month.
