Sergeant Craig Luckett, from Nottinghamshire Police’s roads policing unit and serious collision investigation unit, said: “This was a tragic and traumatic incident and we are working hard to establish exactly what happened in the moments leading up to this collision.

“Specially trained officers are liaising with the man’s family and our thoughts are with them at this sad time.

“Our inquiries are continuing and I appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision, or has any dash-cam footage that may be helpful to the investigation, to get in touch.”

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101, quoting incident 87 of July 12.
