Dwayne Haskins was drugged, extorted and robbed before the NFL quarterback was fatally hit by a dump truck while walking intoxicated on a South Florida highway one year ago, his family claims in a lawsuit.

Haskins died when a truck ran him over[1] on Interstate 595 in Broward County during the early morning hours of April 9, 2022 after the 24-year-old’s rented vehicle ran out of gas, according to authorities.

Prior to his death, the Pittsburgh Steelers field general had been out drinking “heavily” and had a significant amount of alcohol in his blood[2], according to reports from the Broward Medical Examiner’s Office, which ruled his death accidental due to blunt force trauma.

But that narrative doesn’t depict the entire story, his widow Kalabrya Haskins and parents assert in a wrongful death complaint filed March 23 in Broward.
