The first impression of this tester is really good, it comes well packaged in a nicely designed box, which feels good quality and looks the part too.

On opening, I found it’s all in a very nice zip case which is also very good quality, and a very nice touch. It looks good in my roll cab. The case holds the tester well and keep it organised, and as an added bonus, comes with some extra rolls of paper for the printer.

To use, it’s pretty self explanatory if I’m honest, it’s easy to navigate the menus and doesn’t take much figuring out. Just clamp it on and go. I love the fact that it’s backlit, I’ve had testers in the past which aren’t and they can be difficult to read in bad light.

    Things I like:

    – Packaging and Presentation

    – The storage case/bag

    – Feels like a good quality item in your hand

    – Easy to use, and seems to deliver accurate results when compared with other testers and my multi-meter

    – Backlit display

    – Good quality clamps, though they could be better as I’ll explain below.

    Things I dislike:

    – Battery clamps could go a step further if they were more needle nose, I find it difficult to squeeze them onto some terminals.

    – Printer paper tears off a little short and often gets stuck and crumples inside the unit. A trivial con really, but can be irritating. Can be overcome if your careful how you tear it off, but could be better to avoid this if the lid had more of an internal guide.

    Summary:

A nice unit to have and to use, I’ll have it for a long time. I find it to be accurate enough, and it all stores away nicely in its bag when not in use. I’d recommend it if you have need to tear more than the odd battery.

When the weather gets better and I’ve used it some more, I’ll endeavour to do a video showing it’s use and features in more depth.

It tests what you need to know but I had difficulty getting a decent connection on the battery (Qashqai Tekna) because the grips were a bit on the small side. I have a relatively new battery but because I have not been driving it very much the battery has become unreliable. I needed to know if the battery was defective as it was still under guarantee. The Topdon BT100 indicated that it just needs charging and that the other functions were ok. Saved me the cost and time booking it in for testing.

Bought to test FLA batteries in my truck, car trailer, camp trailer and Honda Civic and the AGM batteries in my 3 Corvettes and Honda Passport. Tester is extremely easy to use and works flawlessly. The only things it will not test is the charging system components in my car trailer and camp trailer, as they do not have an engine. The device will test the Battery, but cannot test the Camper’s converter output. Need a Multi-meter for that. I also bought the carrying case. Others have said the tester will not fit. Do not understand why, mine fits fine. Another point of note, this device WILL NOT TEST LiFePO4 batteries. Wish it did, as I have a Type 24 / 100 Ah LiFePO4 battery to power my telescopes when 120 VAC is not available. Would have been nice to be able to monitor how much power was still in the battery during the viewing sessions, but I can’t.

Other than a regular multimeter i have never had a battery tester. After reading the manual i gave this thing a try and I am very impressed! Easy to use and results in seconds. You need a lot of information on the battery you are going to test though. Like how many cold cranking amps and what type is it ( flooded, AGM, etc) others have posted it will not test lithium ion batteries so be aware.,but to test vehicles 12 volt batteries, Its Topdon from now on!

P.s. bought this to test a auxiliary 12 volts battery from an EV car because its always discharged in the morning.

I purchased this based on some reviews and it lived up to expectations. It is very easy to use, giving clear test results. I am not a professional user so this device will only be used occasionally, but certainly worth having to carry out periodic checks that might preempt a catastrophic failure.

I think it is good value for money.
