After a lot of research, I purchased the Noco GB150 and this is an ‘After 6 Months Review’
I’m pleased to report that to date, the Noco has met all challenges with no issues whatsoever and has ‘saved the day’ on more than one occassion.
The LCD Voltmeter is a nice, sensible feature and an excellent, clearly visible starting point for any Battery Issues. Sadly and most puzzlingly, this feature is not included on the newer GBX models, which is the main reason that I opted for a GB model.
I’ve used it to start, amongst other vehicles, a Kubota KX-61 Mini Digger (after a colleague’s Jump Pack just wasn’t up to it), a Transit Van (with a totally flat battery) and a Land Rover Discovery and each time, it has started each vehicle with ease and with plenty of power to spare. As such, I’m pleased to say that you don’t have to recharge it after every use, more like after multiple uses!
I’ve read lots of reviews stating that the Noco has died, and I suspect that, in a lot of cases, it is due to the owner has not READ AND FULLY UNDERSTOOD, the instructions!
If you connect the Noco incorrectly and then override the Safety Feature, IT WILL MOST DEFINITELY DESTROY the Noco, and you will end up with an expensive paperweight!
Read and understand the instructions, treat it with respect, use/discharge it regularly (i.e., monthly), then charge it fully and I’m sure, it will, like mine, do you proud.
I went the whole hog and purchased the Mains Charger and a Protective Hard Case, both of which I thoroughly recommend as good and wise choices. Without the dedicated Mains Charger, it takes ages to fully charge via USB and a Hard Protective Case is a must, as the bag that Noco provide, offers only dust protection.
IMHO, it is still one of the Best Jump Starter out there at the moment!
Highly Recommended, even if you also have to buy a Hard Case and Mains Charger.
This is the without doubt the best jump starter and the most powerfull I’ve ever owned I previously owned the gb 50 and initially it was ok but in the sub zero temps in the north of England It began to struggle to jump my 3.0 ltr diesel Range Rover so I had seen reviews online about the gb150 and how good it was especially starting large capacity vehicles so I bit the bullet and bought one and omg am I so glad I did it starts my Range Rover like it’s starting a 1.1 ltr fiesta lol it’s been down to -8 degrees here lately and it worked like a dream the only advice il give and this goes for any jump starter the reason why most people say there rubbish is because they buy the wrong size amp hr for the engine what ever your engine size is always get at least double the power jump starter regardless of what the manufacture states on there product the gb 50 which is 1500ah and states it jumps up to 3ltr diesel and yes it can no probs in summer but when winter comes these things start to struggle so I upgraded to the gb 150 which is 3000ah so double the recommended and it starts my 3ltr diesel in summer and winter sub zero temps no probs ! And last thing don’t leave your jumper in your vehicle in the winter as these jumpers get freezing cold and that kills the battery power always take it out you vehicle when ever you get to your destination and take it indoors ! It’s fine to leave them in your vehicle in the warm months but if you live in country where it gets below 16c in the winter then take it indoors when ever you park up your vehicle so to sum up the only noco gb worth buying is the gb150 I know there not as cheap as the gb75 or gb40 ect.. but Learn from my mistake buy cheap you buy twice lol !
Will crank Cummins diesel 8.9L and down to 1.6L Honda multiple times on one charge
Exactly what it’s designed to do; provide strong, reliable start for my cars. Will start my diesel L9 as well as 1.6L Honda engine and everything in between. Amazing product, well worth the money.
Just connect it to the battery, it reads battery voltage, turn the noco on and ready to start within 30 seconds. If recipient battery too low to register a voltage, press the emergency boost which overrides noco safety protocols so can jumpstart a really flat battery.
Doesn’t come with wall jack so thats an extra you’ll want to purchase to charge this up. Otherwise the included usb charger will take forever to charge this up.
Don’t leave home without it. Great product.
I recently purchased the NOCO Boost GB150, and it’s easily one of the most dependable tools I’ve added to my kit. The build quality is outstanding—solid, rugged, and clearly designed to handle tough conditions. The 3000A of starting power is no gimmick; it jump-started a completely dead 4×4 diesel without hesitation, and it’s reassuring to know it can handle engines up to 9.0L petrol and 7.0L diesel.
The unit is very easy to use, even for those not mechanically inclined. The safety features, like spark-proof technology and reverse polarity protection, give you peace of mind every time you connect it. The built-in flashlight is powerful and handy in emergencies, especially at night, and the USB ports make it a useful portable power bank for charging phones or other devices on the go.
Battery life is impressive—it holds its charge for months, so it’s always ready when needed. It’s not the smallest jump starter on the market, but the performance more than makes up for the size.
Overall, the GB150 is a top-quality product that delivers serious power and reliability. Perfect for anyone who wants total confidence their vehicle will start, no matter the situation.
Worth every penny for its performance and peace of mind.
Topped it up to full charge and then used it on a cold 4.5 litre John Deere tractor. It’s a cold day and the tractor hasn’t been used for over a month and the engine was barely turning over on the key. Connected up the NOCO GB150 and (on the second attempt) it fired into life. I regard this as a very stiff test and it passed with flying colours. I’d spent a year thinking about buying it to replace my big heavy lead-acid jump starter and I’m very pleased. It’s a lot of money but worth it for the job it does. It’s a fair bit bigger than I expected – the size of a box of tissues – but I guess that’s how it can pack such a punch.
works as it should (read my entire review)
very robust unit! well made with quality materials!! now, ive read several reviews of ppl stating that it doesn’t work or hold a charge. let me explain exactly how you use one of these, this particular model or any other battery powered storage system! 1st, when you receive items like this, they dont come fully charged, in fact most are not charged, for safety reasons! now, for items like this that are shipped with a modest amount of charge, this is what you need to do… COMPLETELY DISCHARGE THE UNIT!!! plug in whatever you want, phone, laptop, etc etc etc! but you need to discharge to 0 to 5%! 2nd, you then need to charge it FULLY! now with this particular model, the USB charger it comes with isn’t really the best! I ordered the wall charger for it, which charges it much faster than the charger it comes with. now, thats not the best way to fully charge a unit,(fast) new or aged. charge this with the included charger. slow is much better than fast. after FULLY charging it, use it!! find a dead battery, if you have one, charge whatever you have left. you don’t have to drain it completely, maybe 10-20% max. then recharge it to 95%, then shut it down and put it away. most ppl that buy these obviously want them for “emergency” purposes. which are just that, emergencies! so they tend to just charge them and put em away until needed, which can be months to years! thats NOT good! even if you haven’t used it, like a solar generator, or even a vehicle battery, it needs to charged, regularly!! at least every 3 months, 6 months at the most!! best way to keep this as “fresh” as possible, discharge it first! down to 30-50% or more, then recharge it, SLOWLY! if you do this at least twice a year, it’ll last, especially with lithium ion batteries!! I have a old(18yr old) jumper box that I bought for the “tool truck” ppl. i rarely used it, but i discharged and recharged it every 3 months! and it still works, but it has the old lead acid battery so its gotten weaker throughout the last few years!! thus the reason I purchased this unit!! batteries lose charge, thats just how it goes. imagine not driving your vehicle for 6 months or a yr, theres a 99.999% the battery will be either dead, or barely enough juice left to crank the engine!! thats why ppl who own classic vehicle’s use battery tenders, they keep the battery topped off when it starts losing juice! so, if you follow my “advice” this jumper box should last you many years! yes, you can get a bad unit, thats how it goes sometimes. this unit has plenty of power to charge any standard gas/diesel powered engine! I used it to start a 800+ horsepower race car, with 16:1 compression, then jumped a john deere 4430 farm tractor, BEFORE I even charged it!! after starting 3 high output engines, it still had 48% left, came with 55%!! this is a great jumper box! very well built with quality materials! cables are flexible and long enough to reach most applications. clamps are also large enough to grasp the terminals. light is much brighter than I anticipated! plenty of USB ports to charge your phone, etc. I like the fact that it has a power/volt meter built-in that tells you what the jumper box itself has left as well as the power of the battery your connecting to!! its heavy but very manageable. starting times will obviously vary depending on what your trying to start and how low the battery is. IF i could add just one thing to this unit it’d be a carry handle, but thats just my opinion and doesn’t change my thoughts and views on it! in closing, buy it!! you won’t be disappointed with it! very sturdy unit that has plenty of power to start just aboot any vehicle/equipment! and the added safety features are great for those ppl who haven’t used a jumper box like this! you won’t get “zapped” etc if you touch the positive & negative clamps together!! I purchased the hardshell case for this, which I HIGHLY RECOMMEND! its incredibly sturdy and will protect your $300 investment! but that up to you!! very happy with this unit and cant find anything I’d change with it, besides maybe a carry handle, but, that just me!! yes its expensive, but, it’ll only take one “emergency” and you’ll be glad you have it!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PORTABLE JUMPER BOX!!
An essential device for starting cars with a dead or low battery. Small enough to carry in the car boot, yet powerful enough to even start my 4.6litre V8 Range Rover after a long spell of little use.
This lithium battery technology is a lot lighter that traditional lead acid batteries.
Shopped around for a good price, which was a lot lower than a high street chain store.
Thoroughly recommended purchase.
