Very nice unit for the price with outstanding customer service!
My car is from 2015 and has Bluetooth for my Android phone but that’s it. I really wanted Android Auto so that I could have a display with bigger maps, play streaming music through it and have my text messages read when they were received. I watched a number of online videos and reviews of various units and this LAMTTO looked like it was the best bang for the buck, so I ordered one.

Out of the box, I followed the simple instructions of turning my phone’s Bluetooth and WiFi on. I had already paired my phone with the car, so I just needed to pair it with the LAMTTO unit. This went smoothly and the WiFi connection was also set up. I chose to output the sound from the unit using Bluetooth and that was it. The unit was up and running after no more than a couple of a minutes of setup.

My phone is a Pixel and so I am using Android Auto. I was able to use the Google Maps app and YouTube Music. Everything works like a dream. What really impressed me is that without changing anything in the car or on the device, I am still able to use my car’s microphone for phone calls and the steering wheel mounted controls that came with the car for jumping from track to track on YouTube Music work (as do the volume and mute controls). If there’s anything else I need, I simply say “OK, Google” and make my request. It’s worked flawlessly.

I wanted to change the logo from the default sports car to the car company logo so the device looks more “stock.” I contacted customer service and they walked me through the process via email. In case anyone is interested in how to do this there is a SD card reader under the sticker that has the button functions on the left side of the device. I formatted the SD card as an ExFAT device on my PC and created a 1024 x 600 72 dpi JPEG image which was saved as boot_logo.jpg on the SD card. I booted the device up without the card in the slot. After the device was powered up, I put the card in and saw a message that notified me that the boot logo had been updated. I shut the device down and removed the card. Upon the next boot, the new logo appeared and that was it. Thanks to Nancy at LAMTTO for the guidance to get this done.

The only nitpicky downside I have discovered is that the even though there is an automatic switch setting between day and night mode for Google Maps, it doesn’t work. Other reviewers also noted this. All things considered, this is actually a small annoyance because it’s relatively simple to change the mode on the device as the need arises.

All in all, I highly recommend this device if you’re looking to update an older car to Android Auto without pulling the whole stereo system as so many of the Android Auto head units do. I took a look at several different size configurations of these devices and this one allowed me to see a big Google Maps area (great for my old eyes) and the unit still sits below the horizon of the front windshield. I’d recommend before buying any unit that you find out the height and width of the unit, draw it up and put the drawing in the car to see the real estate it’s going to consume — you want to be able to see your entire windshield field of view. Safety first! I am now in the process of ordering a piggyback fuse tap to wire this into my fuse box so the cigarette outlet in the center dash console isn’t used and the install will look cleaner.

Overall this is an awesome product and the company provides awesome customer support! I couldn’t be anymore pleased.

    Its great!
My car does not have a working cigarette lighter. It is a 2018 Nissan Sentra. I don’t have Apple CarPlay in my car and I really enjoyed it on cars that I have rented. I decided I would purchase this for a trip and it was wonderful. It’s very helpful. It’s huge. I will say it is extremely large. I bought a USB-C cord to charge it in my car because my car does have a USB port. You will need either a USB cord with USB-C or a cigarette lighter to keep this thing powered up. I’d say it’s really worth it. It has to be plugged into a power source and the car turned on in order to work. I bought the $10 insurance in case something happens with it. I think it’s well worth it. I have it hooked up to my window because I don’t really want to put it anywhere else. It works well, it does take some learning. It plays through my car Speakers through Bluetooth and it sounds pretty good. I use it for GPS (Waze and Apple Maps) and I also use it to listen to music. It’s really awesome and I highly suggest getting this. There Was one time that it did turn off in the middle of me driving and turned back on, I’m not sure what happened. However this is a great idea. I didn’t want to spend $500-1000 getting it installed In my car, my car already has a back up camera so I did not purchase the one with a back up camera, however I would say that that’s pretty good deal. Ive left it in a heated car all day for weeks at a time and there are no issues, however, I won’t suggest leaving it in the heat. The features are great. It’s just like a regular CarPlay, Apple CarPlay or Android CarPlay. It’s durable. It’s easy to read and the speakers actually not too bad if that’s all you’re going to use if you have an older car or you do something like DoorDash or any of those things and you’re looking for something to help you. I really suggest getting this. I also told my parent, my dad, he does delivery jobs like that and I think it’ll be really helpful for him. Im so glad they offer this for people that do not have factory CarPlay, its well worth the price and saved me a ton of money. Update: it’s Jan 2026 and this baby is still going! I had to buy a replacement arm to hold it that attaches to my window. Sometimes with iPhone updates I find sound issues where I wasn’t able to hear navigation from Apple Maps. Could just be user error. Not sure but this thing is SO worth the purchase. If it does out I’ll absolutely buy another one.

    Quick setup!
I had this thing assembled and connected in just a few minutes! Super easy to do and everything worked exactly as expected.

I put this in a 2017 Corolla. We have an Android phone and used the aux cable to get the sound to work with the car speakers. Apparently we could also go into settings and use FM, which is really cool. According to the instructions, which are great, if you use iOS i think it will work directly with your car’s audio. Only android needs special treatment.

The unit comes with several options for mounting including a dashboard and windshield option. I was able to use an old CD player mount and attached the carplay mount to it! It’s perfect!

This thing works exactly like the factory unit i have in my 2024 truck. Truly remarkable. I thought these were a gimmick when they first came out, but I’m totally sold. Now we have a huge screen and great visibility. Screen sensitivity is fantastic. The screen is also easy to adjust for different angles of viewing.

I think it connects quickly to the phone, it’s less than 20 seconds or so from the time we turn on the car. Also, we’ve had zero problems with connectivity. It hasn’t dropped at all.

At this price I’m sincerely impressed. Highly recommended.

Works great if you have an older car without CarPlay
We have older cars that don’t have car play. They do have GPS maps, but we haven’t updated the maps on those in a while. Plus the car GPS doesn’t have traffic info unless you pay extra for it. Also I like the fact the unit is portable so you can take it from one car to another with ease. After having using CarPlay in rental cars, I decided to get one of these units. I just stick the suction cup mount in the cup holder and it works fine there. Being able to hook up the audio cable to the car stereo using the AUX input cable on the car make it easy to use. The audio is much better than connecting your phone via Bluetooth. Also, the last car that I rented had car play, but for some reason I wasn’t able to connect to it. Maybe, they don’t update those units to the latest CarPlayOS and it was having problems connecting. If you have a unit like this, you can also bring it with you as a backup in case you can’t get it to work.

Another benefit is that when using just your phone for navigation it tends to drain the battery even with it plugged into the cigarette lighter charger. I think it’s because the screen is constantly on and it drains faster than it can charge with backlight on full. Now with the CarPlay screen, your phone display is now off and with it plugged in, it won’t drain as much since you have a separate screen. But you’ll need to get a car adapter with 2 plugs. The one that comes with CarPlay screen only has one cable coming off it, so you won’t be able to also keep your phone charged while using navigation or playing music. The CarPlay screen uses a USB-C cable so you need to get one with that or use an USB-A to C adapter which I used to since my adapter had 2 USB-A plugs.

Everything seems to work fine, the UI is a bit slower than what I tried with on other cars that have a built in CarPlay system but it’s fine.. Overall a great unit.

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersFantastic piece of ki
Really pleased with this piece of kit. The screen size is excellent and the touch screen is very responsive. It boots immediately and so far, three weeks in, has never failed to connect to my phone which was the reason I decided to replace my previous, cheaper version. Picture quality is really good and I use the included aux cable to use the aux input in my car as it is old and doesn’t have a Bluetooth radio. I have also tested the FM option and that works well with good sound quality through the stereo.

As mentioned, the touch screen is very responsive making it easy to scroll through the various screens. With the screen being larger I use the split screen option much more than I used to on my previous, smaller version. Set up was a breeze, literally went into Bluetooth on my iPhone, tapped the unit name, confirmed the pairing and that was it. Could not have been easier.

The package includes two mounts and a round sticky pad which I have put on the dashboard. The unit is very stable, doesn’t shake around when driving and has not fallen off once yet. I can only recommend this item, I was a little nervous about spending this much when cheaper options were available but this was really worth the money and I would have no hesitation in recommending it.

Feature-Packed & Affordable Wireless Car Stereo Upgrade with Apple CarPlay & Android Auto!
After doing a LOT of research on Android Auto Screens, I finally came across LAMTTO’s 9-inch screen and I couldn’t be happier. It’s a solid upgrade for any vehicle, but for me in particular it’s even more useful because I still drive a car from 2012 that is not equipped with a touch screen or Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. It connects wirelessly in a breeze

and allows for seamless integration with my Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra. The Bluetooth and FM transmission provide multiple audio options, and the display delivers clear visuals, even for 1080P video playback.

Voice control using Google Assistant enables me to use it almost entirely hands-free, while real-time GPS navigation syncs effortlessly with Google Maps and Waze. The setup is super straightforward, and it comes with a myriad of mounting options.

I recently encountered a minor connection issue, so I contacted customer service. Not only did they respond almost instantaneously, but they also provided me with multiple options to resolve my problem. Communication was fast, clear, friendly, and exactly what you would hope to see from a customer service department.

Overall, it’s a feature-packed, budget-friendly option for modernizing an older car’s infotainment system. I’m excited to see what they come out with next!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersBrilliant Upgrade to my car - love it!!
I picked this up because my car doesn’t have CarPlay built in, and it’s easily one of the most useful upgrades I’ve added.

Setup was very straightforward. Plug it in, mount it on the dash, connect your phone once and you’re done. After that it just connects automatically every time you start the car, which makes a big difference day to day. No cables, no reconnecting, no thinking about it.

The 9 inch screen is a really nice size. It sits well on the dash and actually feels like part of the car rather than something stuck on. The display is clear, bright enough in daylight, and everything from maps to music apps is easy to read at a glance.

Wireless CarPlay is the main reason I got it and it delivers exactly what you’d want. Google Maps, Spotify, calls, messages, all just work straight away. I’ve been using Siri through it as well for hands free control and it responds quickly, so you’re not distracted trying to press buttons while driving.

The Bluetooth side of things has been solid. I’m running audio through the car speakers and it’s clean with no dropouts or lag. It’s nice having options as well with AUX and FM if your car setup is a bit older or picky.

Mounting feels secure too. Once it’s in place it stays put, even on rougher roads, which was something I was half expecting to be an issue but hasn’t been at all.

The screen mirroring feature is a handy extra. I wouldn’t use it while driving, but if you’re parked up or waiting around it’s useful for YouTube or whatever you’ve on your phone. Good option to have there.

Another thing I’ve noticed is how much it just simplifies everything. You’re not reaching for your phone, not messing with mounts or cables, everything you need is right there in front of you in a proper layout.

If you’ve an older car and don’t want the hassle or cost of replacing the whole head unit, this is a very easy win. It brings all the modern features in without any major effort, and once it’s set up it just becomes part of your normal routine.

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our Users9 inch screen for wireless android auto / carplay
BIG screen, I’m jealous and my car is Android auto / carplay native!!!

Great screen that gives an old car way more connectivity than just Bluetooth calls!!

We love the easy connection for wireless android auto, no cables needed, the integration of maps and Waze into the unit and the performance of the hardware in the screen: it’s really quick to navigate the options etc, and the touch screen is super responsive.

Setup is a breeze, connect to the Bluetooth and it creates a dedicated WiFi network automatically to handle the data and handshake from your phone to the screen, connect it once and it auto-connects as soon as your Bluetooth is detected, no stress or worrying about how to connect!

Great build quality, value for money and I’m a fan of the high quality mounting brackets.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our Users9" CARPLAY SCREEN
This is a great addition on to any car that needs a modern car play screen at a fraction of the cost of replacing an old unit and can be moved to other cars if needed.

It connects to the car stereo using Bluetooth or aux cable and is a very easy setup.

The video I have posted has audio playing out of the built in speakers just for the review.

Sound is great for sat nav but not brilliant for the music apps.

Touchscreen is very responsive and the colours are vibrant and clear.

The google maps are great along with the music very clear and easy to use.

You can use siri or Google to speak to the screen to play music or make calls so it’s basically a hands free unit.

It also has screen mirroring to play programs from your phone to the screen.

The screen it quite large so I personally would mount it with the dash mount are and hang it down over the front of the dash or buy a cd mount from amazon if you have a cd player built in your car.

I will see what’s best when I fit this unit into my car as I dont want to block vision of windscreen.

This is a great add on to any old car bluetooth stereo that has not got a infotainment system and comes at a very good price.

Golden Review Award: 1 From Our UsersBring your old car into the smart phone age
I have a 2008 Volvo and 2006 Volvo. I like older cars for most things, however, the one issue is not being up to date tech wise which really becomes apparent when I hire new cars to drive.

This screen instantly upgrades your vehicle of any age, so long as you have a power source (eg the supplied cigarette lighter USB-C) and an Android or Apple smart phone.

Audio: The screen has its own speakers or you can plug in aux cable or Bluetooth connection, or my fav option is classic FM radio using an unused frequency. You can see in my photo I set it to 88.0 and it works seamlessly and without any distortion in audio

Navigation: My main usage will be Google Maps/Waze (and Whatsapp messages) – satnav works fine and it’s basically better than using your phone mid driving.

Communication: WhatsApp you can choose to just see new conversations in that drive once you connect via Android or Apple Car, you can reply to messages using very good audio recognition which types without issue what you say and confirms before replying. You can also call people using your voice and the names in phonebook.

Apps: in addition to the above you can access a host of other apps, and it will let you for example play the audio from streaming apps eh YouTube.

Use of intuitive with buttons to take you to Home, or brightness settings or change audio source or the input phone being used. Touch screen feels as good as using a modern phone.

Finally, you can in theory actually mirror the phone as screen per one of the options which needs an app (in which case you could watch things in theory) but I’ve not tried that at the risk of being stopped!

The touch screen is excellent and very responsive. The maps, music, and other features work really well, making it very useful for everyday use.
