These jump leads are very well made and feel like they are built to last, they have been used a few times now and they have worked perfectly so pleased with them. Only issue was the zip on the bag that they came in, broke on 1st use so not bothered using the bag anymore.
Sturdiest set of jumper cables that I have ever owned
Really like the quality of these jumper cables. Thick wires and strong clamps make these the best jumper cables that I have ever owned. Added to that the 6m length makes these a useful addition to any garage or home enthusiast setup.
I was looking for some new booster cables as the old ones that I had before had broken. My previous cables followed a common pattern of available cables that have plastic alligator clips with small metal facings on the jaws … but with only one jaw facing actually connected to the cable! For the new set I was looking for metal clips, so that they would be stronger, and both jaw faces would be connected to the cable. These cables seemed to fit the brief.
On arrival, it transpired that this set came in a case (pictured). However, the cables were thicker than expected, and the whole thing is larger and heavier than I expected. With the cables inside, the case measures about 34cm in diameter and about 8cm thick and weighs about 4kg.
I wanted to have a closer look at the clip assembly. Fortunately it was straightforward to slide off the rubber covers, revealing the clip (pictured). The clip is all metal construction, and seems to be copper-coloured. (I don’t know if it is made out of copper, or copper-plated or what.) Also I was interested to know if the cable conductor was made from copper or some other metal. Inspecting the end of the cable where it is crimped on to the clip (pictured) shows that it appears copper-coloured. (Again, I don’t know if the conductor is made from copper or copper-plated or what.)
To my eye, the cables seem perfectly good. However, I decided that they were too big/heavy/bulky for my needs. To my eye, it looks like they would suit a requirement to jump start a vehicle larger than a car. I decided that a smaller/lighter set would be better, and so I have found a different smaller set, and plan on returning the set reviewed here.
