This Pawfly Solar Pond Aerator is a great little kit for aerating your pond from the Sun’s energy without any need for wiring, batteries etc. The kit is compact, looks easy to setup and comes with all the parts required to get up and running. You get the solar panel, mounting bracket / plastic stake, main pump unit, pipework / connecting nozzles, Air Stones, Allen Key, Wing nuts / screws and a set of instructions.
The Solar Panel powers the air pump, which releases bubbles into the pond via the air stones to improve water air circulation and ensure the pond stays in a healthier condition. Being solar powered, it’s Eco friendly and doesn’t require a massive amount of expertise to assemble and can be put into practice in a very short amount of time.

I have a small wildlife pond in the garden, and apparently wildlife isn’t too impressed with a powerful fountain, but the pond gets full sun and I do have issues every spring with the water turning green with algae. The way I’ve controlled it in the past is by buying tablets, putting in barley straw, and tonics, and although all work to varying degrees, and I’ve bought more oxygenating plants, but this seemed like another good idea. However, when it arrived, I was somewhat perplexed by the instructions.
It’s all worded for use with an aquarium, which wasn’t what I needed at all. It also had me confused – why a solar panel for an indoor tank? Anyhow, I decided to set it up anyway. As the pond gets full sun, the solar panel had no problem generating enough power immediately. There aren’t really instructions on how to set it up so I used common sense – 2 hoses, 2 bits sticking out the control box, so I popped them on. Then there’s an array of different tubing ends, but I chose the air block ends (grey lumps) and popped them into the water.
Instantly I turned on the controller, they were producing bubbles. You have the option of setting it up 3 different amounts of airflow – I chose the on/ off pulsing option, and it works well. I have found one tube works more effectively than the other one though – no idea why – but the water has started to clarify now. The noise level is very low and it feels like it’s well made. I hope the controller is fully rain proof, but I’ve tucked it under the solar panel in case it’s only shower proof.
There’s a good length of wire from the panel to the controller, and a good length of tubing to the pond, so that’s useful. I wish there were better instructions, but it does seem to work well. The price seems fair, so I’m happy to recommend.
