Parking Senso
Awesome aftermarket device. Works real well. Only problem is the design of the snap in sensor. It was manufactured for thin material snap in. Fortunately I have a plastic bumper and I was able to create a Chamfer on the inside of the hole to thin out the thickness in order for the sensor to snap in. I gave the rating a 4 for this reason. I know from a manufacturing aspect, I have seen snap locks that are stepped for thick and thin material. Device is easy to install, just work performing a clean install. Don’t forget to hog out the styrofoam behind the plastic bumper to accomodate the depth of the sensor and allowing the wire to turn without stressing the wire
Complete DIY Parking Sensor Package
The SANDETOUN Parking Sensor Kit is a complete aftermarket parking assistance system designed for vehicles that lack factory parking sensors. It includes front and rear sensor capability, configurable display options, distance measurement settings, and all of the hardware needed for installation.
This is a comprehensive kit. Inside the package are eight sensors, four extension cables, a hole saw for sensor installation, mounting tape, a display unit, a control module, and an instruction manual. The sensor cables are generously sized at roughly 2.3 meters each, providing plenty of flexibility for routing through most vehicles.
One thing I appreciated is that this system is not limited to automobiles. Since it operates from a standard 12V electrical system, it could also be adapted for use on golf carts, utility vehicles, and other similar equipment.
The control module is thoughtfully designed. A sliding access door allows the wiring to be installed and organized before securing everything in place. All connections are keyed and unique, making it difficult to accidentally connect the wrong cable. The sensor, display, and power connections are all clearly differentiated.
Build quality appears quite good. Opening the control box revealed a cleanly assembled circuit board with decent-quality components and tidy construction. Nothing looked rushed or poorly manufactured.
The display module is compact and easy to place inside a vehicle. The two-digit display provides distance information while supporting the additional directional and configuration features offered by the system.
Before installation, I performed bench testing of the components. The system functioned properly, and the sensors demonstrated good accuracy when detecting nearby objects. Response times were quick, and distance reporting appeared consistent.
The primary challenge with this kit is installation. This is definitely aimed at DIY enthusiasts who are comfortable drilling mounting holes, routing wiring, mounting sensors, and configuring the system. None of the tasks are particularly difficult, but they do require time and effort.
The instructions are adequate but could be improved. They are somewhat vague in places and occasionally difficult to follow. Most installers should be able to work through them, but clearer documentation would make the process easier.
Overall, this is a well-equipped parking sensor system with accurate sensors, solid construction, and a generous selection of installation hardware. The installation requires some commitment, but for those willing to put in the effort, it provides a capable parking assist solution with a variety of useful configuration options. A good kit for the DIY vehicle enthusiast.
