M6: Driver fined for breaking temporary speed limit
Robin McCabe, 40, was caught driving a Mazda above the 40mph limit on the M6 southbound near Clifton Bridge, Penrith[1]. The offence took place on July 12, 2025, in an area which was subject to a speed restriction order for roadworks. McCabe of Calfmuir Road, Kirkintilloch, Glasgow, appeared at Carlisle[2] Magistrates' Court on June 26, 2026, where they pleaded guilty to the offence.
McCabe was fined GBP54, ordered to pay GBP150 in costs to the Crown Prosecution Service, and given a GBP22 victim surcharge.
McCabe was also handed three penalty points on his driving licence.
