Emergency update after Essex M11 closed due to blaze

An Essex County Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "Firefighters were called to a fire on the embankment on the M11 between junction 7 and junction 8 at 3.55pm.

"On arrival, three crews reported a section of the embankment was on fire and worked to put it out by 4.32pm."

The northbound carriageway had been closed between junction 7A for Harlow North and junction 8 for the A120 while the incident was dealt with, leading to delays on the main route.
