a good charging cable
I’ve been using the ELEGRP Type 2 EV Charging Cable and it’s been a solid addition to my EV’s boot. I got this to replace an older, shorter cable.
Straight out of the box, it feels well-made and durable, with a reassuring weight that suggests good build quality without being overly cumbersome. The 7-metre length is particularly useful, giving me plenty of flexibility when parking, especially in tighter or awkward spaces where shorter cables would be a hassle.
In terms of performance, the 7.36kW charging capability at 32A delivers exactly what I need for reliable, efficient charging at home and at public charge points. I’ve had no issues with connectivity—the plugs fit snugly and securely into both my car and the charging station. It’s also reassuring to know it’s designed for single-phase charging, which suits most UK home installations perfectly. The cable remains reasonably flexible even in cooler weather, which is a big plus given how stiff some alternatives can become.
Another highlight for me is the included carrying bag, which makes storage and transport much tidier. It keeps the cable protected and prevents it from cluttering up the boot. Overall, this cable strikes a great balance between quality, practicality, and performance. If you’re looking for a dependable Type 2 charging cable with a bit of extra reach, this is definitely one I’d recommend.
Excellent Quality and Reliable Performance. No Issues.
I got this as an additional cable for my electric vehicle so I could keep one at home and one for travelling, and it has worked exactly as expected.
The long length is very useful and gives plenty of reach in different parking situations. The cable supports fast charging, and I’ve found the charging performance to be reliable with no interruptions. The connectors fit securely and feel well made.
The cable feels sturdy while still being manageable to coil and store. I also like that it comes with a carry bag, as EV cables can otherwise become messy to keep in the boot. It’s weather resistant so it’s great for anyone who regularly charges outdoors.
It’s a reliable charging cable that provides excellent performance and feels built to last. It’s a practical accessory for any Type 2 EV or PHEV owner who wants a reliable cable for home or public charging.
Tough type 2 cable
This EV cable is for type 2 AC chargers and Type 2 cars, which is most cars, and certainly mine. It is chunky and rugged and both looks and feels like it is going to survive the rigours of daily usage. To ensure that there are dust caps for both ends and a nylon zipped carrying bag with handle, so it can live in the boot until needed.
The cable is 5 metres, with seven metre and ten metre options available. I think I should have gone for seven just to be on the safe side as it is only a tenner extra. The connectors fit snugly at both ends, and the throughput is as advertised. I am getting 7kW exactly.
All-in-all this is a tough type 2 cable and gets the throughput advertised, and comes with dust caps and a carrying bag. It’s just worth thinking about which length you want before pressing the buy button.
