Woman dies in three-car crash on M40 near Oxfordshire

The collision occurred on the M40 junctions 16 with Henley and 15 with Warwick, at about 11pm on Sunday, June 21. Warwickshire Police were called to the scene which involved three cars on the southbound side of the carriageway. Sadly, a passenger in one of the cars, a woman in her 60s, died at the scene.

Police said her next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially-trained officers. Shortly after the incident, officers arrested a 54-year-old man on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He currently remained in police custody as of Monday morning.

Road closures remained in place throughout Sunday night and Monday morning, reopening at about 1pm.

Investigating officers from Warwickshire Police are asking anyone who witnessed the collision, has dashcam footage of what happened or saw the vehicles 'and the way they were being driven' to come forward.
