Very mixed feelings on this camera kit.
A few months ago I was fortunate enough to get a Parkvision bike camera set that includes front & rear cameras and an excellent screen, it was easy to install and works brilliantly, needless to say as this comes from the same company I was eager to try this in a car.
My GF & I were gifted a camper van a few months ago by her grandparents, a 1960s model of a British built van that was a regular sight on our roads back in the 60s & 70s providing cheap holidays for tens of thousands of families.
The interior is in remarkably good condition & we’ve not had to do much to it at all but the bodywork and electrics have suffered over time so it’s currently under repair and awaiting a paint job.
As visibility in these things was never fantastic and with roads and car parks being rather more crowded than they were when it was built I decided that this was the perfect vehicle for a rear view camera.
I’ve done three test fits with the camera, the first time no matter what I did I couldn’t get the screen to come on, I assumed it was probably a problem with the ageing electrics in the van and put it away for a few days so I could check it out.
Having checked out the electrics and not finding any faults I tried it again and did get the screen to work and connect to the camera however half an hour or so later I noticed the screen was blank again and once again no amount of coaxing would bring it back up, my suspicion is that there’s still a problem with the van wiring that I didn’t find so I’m not too worried but it may be worth bearing in mind that installing this may not be as straightforward as one would hope.
In the meantime I’m putting installation on hold until the paint is done on the van.
Everything in the box is very well made and designed, the screen is very similar to the Parkvision one on my bike, it’s a decent size big enough to present a clear image of what’s going on behind you without being so large that it’s hard to find a suitable location for it, the image is bright & clear and it can be adjusted to suit your preferences.
The mount is a little more cumbersome than I’d expected but it’s very easy to adjust to suit your particular vehicle which it may not be if it had a less configurable arm, the suction mount is one of the newer ones that combines a tacky adhesive pad with a strong suction mount, I’ve used quite a few similar mounts for other things and I’ve found them to be very good indeed, once they are on they are on for keeps unless you want them to come off, if you ever do need to move it you can replenish the adhesive pad by washing it with plain warm water under a tap and allowing it to dry off naturally.
The camera and solar panel unit is a quite compact but sturdy item, it’s designed to mount over your numberplate which is a significantly exposed spot so it need to be quite resilient to exposure to the elements and everything else the roads and weather can throw at it.
There are two mounting options for the plate that carries the solar camera unit either using the provided adhesive pad which is made from the same kind of material they use for adhesive mounted number plates or you can use screws, my personal preference would be for screws solely for the added security.
Once mounted the unit is fixed on with a sliding & snap in method to the lower part of the plate.
This is one thing I’m really not keen on with this set, while it’s a good tight fit when new I can see that with repeated use to take the camera off either for theft prevention or to charge it via the USB port that it will eventually become less secure with wear, as it slides on horizontally I fear that eventually the camera could be shaken loose and lost.
I’m planning to include some extra security to it perhaps by adding a fine wire twisted cable or cord secured around the joint between the solar battery and the camera to ensure that if it does work loose the camera won’t be lost.
In spite of not being able to do a full test out on the road what I was able to see and check out was very good, the screen is great and the camera gives a good image.
The overall quality is very good indeed just as I’d expected from my experience with the bike camera.
Easy parking made simple
I got this solar reversing camera to park my car easier and after using it for a while it has really helped more than I expected. The setup was very easy because I did not need to mess with hard wiring, I just attached the camera, powered the screen and it was ready to use, which was a big plus for me. The battery lasts a long time on a full charge and with the solar support I do not have to think about charging it often, so it feels very convenient for daily driving. The picture on the screen is clear both during the day and at night and the night vision makes reversing in dark places much easier and safer and I’m very happy that I don’t have to get out of the car to check the distance manually like I used to do before. I also noticed that the signal stays stable even while driving, with no freezing or delay is great because every day when I go to work I park my car in different places. The screen size is just right, not too big and not too small and the parking lines can be adjusted which helped me line up properly in tight spaces. This is like a smart and practical upgrade for the car that makes parking easier every day and it gives good value for the money without being complicated to use(specially that the installation is very simple).
No wiring needed
I didn’t want to drill holes in my car bumper so I tried this. It mounts on the number plate and is solar powered so no wiring needed. The battery stays charged perfectly. The picture on the monitor is clear. It took me about ten minutes to install. A brilliant hassle free reversing camera for DIY fitting.
This is so helpful for cars like mine or other vehicles which didn’t come fitted with a reverse camera. I find it so helpful especially when towing. This camera and screen by Parkvision is simple to set up and works really well.
The camera unit can be attached via screws or double sided tape which is included, the tape is large and very strong. The camera has two rows of solar panels on it which do a great job of charging the battery.
The head unit is powered via included cigarette lighter adapter. It also allows other items to be plugged in after plugging the adapter in. The screen comes with a suction cup style mount which has good adjustment and mounts well to the windscreen. When attached there is little to no movement only some vibrations over bumps.

installation super facile et qualit d’image exceptionnelle,installer sur un camping car la place d’une camera filaire qui n’tait pas compatible aprs le changement de l’autoradio miltimdia et la qualit d’image est bien suprieur,je conseille cette camra de recul.

La he instalado y cumple con lo deseado. Se ve bien la parte trasera de mi autocaravana. Se emparej rapidsimo tras tres o cuatro segundos. No le pongo cinco estrellas porque la carcasa de la pantalla es un poco “mrame y no me toques”. La volvera a comprar. Con el botn que tiene en el cargador de mechero se enciende y apaga la pantalla y cmara siempre que est ltima tenga el botn de encendido activado. La pantalla la coloque debajo del retrovisor en un soporte tras amaarlo un poco. Contento con la compra.
L'obiettivo della telecamera va premuto verso l'interno per poterlo ruotare.
Dopo un primo momento negativo, poi ha iniziato a funzionare bene. La telecamera ha una visione chiara. Non ho capito come fare spegnere il monitor automaticamente dopo il primo avvio.
