M4 speed camera: Man gets points for driving at more than 40mph

Arthur Dalton, of Mill Lane, Taplow, was caught speeding by an automatic camera on the M4 at Brentford. The 44-year-old was travelling between Clayponds Avenue and Transport Avenue on a Yamaha MT when he was spotted travelling at more than the 40mph speed limit. He appeared at Lavender Hill Magistrates' Court where he pleaded guilty to a single count of exceeding a 40mph speed limit in contravention of a Local Traffic Order.

UK speed limits explained

Dalton was fined GBP530 and received three points on his licence. He was ordered to pay GBP85 court costs and a GBP212 surcharge. The money is due to be paid in monthly instalments of GBP100 starting from June 18.

The court was told in mitigation how losing his licence would impact his family and work that he does as a consultant.
