Leicestershire M1 fire live updates as road closed after seven cars engulfed in blaze

According to traffic monitoring service Inrix, two lanes have been closed on the M1 southbound to assist emergency services in dealing with the incident.

A vehicle fire was reported on the M1 northbound between junction 19 at Catthorpe Interchange and junction 20 at Lutterworth after 5pm this evening (June 22).

Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service (LFRS) said a car transporter vehicle is ablaze, with seven cars fixed to the top of it on fire.

Inrix reports that lanes three and four (of four) are currently closed on the opposite side of the M1.

All northbound lanes remain closed.
