I’ve mainly been using this as a backup option for situations where dedicated EV charging points aren’t available, and it’s been quite practical for that purpose. The setup is straightforward, and connecting it to a standard socket doesn’t take much effort. The long cable is particularly useful, as it gives more freedom in positioning the car without needing to park in a very specific spot.
In everyday use, it works well for slower top-ups when needed and feels reliable enough for occasional charging rather than full-time reliance. The adjustable current settings are useful depending on the situation, and the LED indicator helps confirm when it’s active. It’s not something I’d use as a primary charger, but it does its job well as a convenient fallback option.
I picked up this charger for my new hybrid car. I do not have a wall box at my house yet. This cable feels very tough in my hands. The wire is thick and the plugs feel solid. I park my car a few meters from the house wall. This long lead reaches the car port with plenty of slack. I do not have to pull the cord tight across the stones. The three-pin plug fits into my wall socket with a firm click. It does not wobble or feel loose during long sessions. Setting the power level is a breeze. I can pick from different speeds with a few taps. My garage has old wiring from years ago. I worry about heat in the old copper lines. I set the draw to 10A to keep the socket cool. The unit remembers my choice for the next time I plug it in. The screen stays bright even in the pitch black. It shows the heat of the plug and the flow of power. I like seeing the numbers move in real time.
The build of this kit is top notch for the price. The plastic case feels like it can take a beating. The speed is fast for a normal home plug. It fills my car battery while I sleep. This tool works great for daily top-ups. The cable does not get stiff in the cold weather. It stays bendy and easy to move. The main box has a clear layout. The plug stays cool even after a full night of work. I trust the safety of the copper core inside. Rain does not stop the charging process at all. The weather stays wet here but the seals hold up well. I do not see any water get into the ports.
I found one small snag with the screen icons. Some of the little pictures look a bit odd at first. The book helps but the icons could be clearer for a new user. Also the screen stays lit the whole time it has power. A sleep mode for the display would be a nice touch for the night. The bag in the box is a bit tight for the long wire. I have to coil the lead perfectly to zip it up. A bigger bag would make life easier in the morning. However the charger works great as a main way to power up. It costs much less than a full home install. It keeps my car ready for the road every day. This tool feels built to last for many years. It is a smart buy for any car owner.
