I didn’t even know these standalone screens existed!
For newer cars that don’t really use a single or double din standard console this is perfect for making the car more interactive and smarter, bringing them up to date.
The screen is beautiful. It’s wide, it’s bright and the resolution is fine for this size. The bezel is slim and overall it’s a very nice looking unit.
Functionality is really really good. Phone connects via Bluetooth which is nice not having some leads hanging everywhere like lots of android auto connections. Then the screen connects to the cars audio via Bluetooth. I’ve found this most useful for maps and Spotify. Which can both be displayed at the same time.
Setup was really more straight forward than I expected. I thought it’d be intimidating but after following the instructions it was simple.
I think this is such a great job and highly recommended. Great value upgrade for any car.
Great CarPlay/Android Auto scree
Used to replace an older similar screen I already I had I can say this is a million miles better than my previous one. Things did start of badly as the screen was covered with a residue I imaging cam from the plastic screen protector. After 15 minutes for finger rubbing and a wipe with screen cleaner I managed to get it of. Unlike my previous screen this one turns on almost instantly. The screen quality is pin sharp and plenty bright. I initially powered it on inside the house and was surprised that there were 3 system updates to be downloaded. I take this as a positive sign from the manufacturer., The overall build quality of the screen is very good and multiple mounting options are included in the box. Thankfully I was able to reuse the existing mounting bracket stuck to my car dashboard. While mainly for a CarPlay/Auto screen the screen itself is running an Android variant and can run a selected set of apps so it can be used directly for viewing media etc as long as a wifi network is available to connect to. I am not sure this is a feature I would used but provided plenty of scope for use. Overall, I think this is a pretty decent CarPlay screen and way better that my previous one. A reversing camera is in the box that does need to be wired into the cars reversing light it that is something you want to install. While technical this is within reach of most DIYers I think. To sum I am am really happy with it.
Fixing this dashboard screen to my windscreen took several attempts. The suction mount provided feels rigid, but on hot afternoons, the rubber loses its grip, causing the whole unit to droop onto the dashboard. I eventually had to rest the bottom edge on the plastic trim to keep it stable. Booting up takes about thirty seconds after turning the ignition key, which feels a bit slow when in a rush. Pairing my phone via Bluetooth worked on the first try, projecting my navigation maps beautifully across the wide screen. The touch response is mostly accurate, though swiping through menus can sometimes feel a bit sluggish compared to a modern mobile. Playing media through the internal speakers yields very tinny, flat audio, requiring me to run an auxiliary cable directly into the car stereo for decent sound quality. The reversing camera wiring took a whole Saturday to route under the carpets, but having a clear view of the bumper makes parking in tight city spots much less stressful.

I am very pleased with this screen which I am using with Android Auto.
It is easy to set up, connects to my Google Pixel phone easily and to my Toyota Proace van.
Fixing in the vehicle is straightforward and there is a reversing camera if you need it.
The split screen function lets you have your navigation open and a second function as well.
Sound is good and you can set up your phone for hands free use through the screen.
A very useful travelling companion and very good value for money.

Review:
Setting this up was fairly straightforward and the screen is quite sharp. I like how clear the display is when using maps for long drives. Streaming apps work well enough but you need a good connection. The backup camera a useful extra, but not really needed. Connecting my phone wirelessly is quick and it stays stable mostly. The casing feels a bit plasticky but it looks TIDY on the dashboard. Sound quality depends on how you link it to your car speakers.
Fab upgrade for an older car!
Really simple to get set up. I went with the suction mount too since I didn’t fancy sticking anything permanent on the dash, and it held up fine. It runs off the 12V port and it’s not USBC, which is a tiny bit annoying because it means my phone charger gets bumped down to the slower USB port now. Small gripe but still.
Software feels pretty nippy. Flicks between screens without any lag and Google Maps handled a twohour drive without any hiccups. The screen resolution is genuinely decent as well. Ended up watching a bit of Netflix while parked up waiting to pick my partner up and it felt weirdly fancy having that in the car.
The rear camera is alright. Not amazing, but good enough to give you a bit of guidance when reversing. No dynamic turn lines or anything clever like that. Just be aware you’ll need to run the cable from the front to the back of the car, which means popping bits of trim off and on again. Bit of a faff but doable.
Overall though, for the price, it’s a cracking little upgrade. Easy install, smooth software and a surprisingly good screen.
