Person airlifted to hospital after lorry and two cars crash on M56
The motorway is expected to remain shut for several hours

A person has been airlifted to hospital after a "serious" crash on the M56 near Warrington. The M56 eastbound has been closed near Stretton this evening, Monday, May 18 following a crash between a lorry and two cars.[1][2]
Cheshire Police was called to the scene shortly after 5pm. One person has been airlifted to hospital[3] after they sustained serious injuries.
The M56[4] remains closed between junctions 10 and nine while police investigation work is ongoing.
Police said the closure is expected to remain in place for several hours.
Anyone who witnessed the collision, or anyone with any information which may help police with their investigation is asked to contact Cheshire Police on 101 quoting IML-2331295.
