M6 updates as police, firefighters and paramedics at ‘serious’ North Staffordshire crash

Emergency services have been scrambled to a 'serious' smash on the M6 - that shut the motorway in North Staffordshire. Now three lanes remain closed with huge queues tonight.

National Highways posted on X, just before 7.05pm this evening (May 25), to warn Bank Holiday motorists there had been a 'serious collision' involving two trucks. Police, paramedics and firefighters were all sent to the southbound stretch between junctions 15 and 14.

Moments later and it was confirmed the southbound carriageway was shut.

In the latest update National Highways has confirmed recovery is underway and there are three lanes out - with a 60-minute queue and six miles of congestion.
