Eight-day-old baby taken to hospital after M50 crash
The early-morning crash left the motorway closed for nine hours between Ledbury and Tewkesbury on Bank Holiday Monday (May 25). A Peugot 308 had crashed into the nearside barrier and rolled over. The driver, a woman in her 30s, was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham for treatment, while the baby was taken to Birmingham Children's Hospital.
A 37-year-old woman was also arrested on suspicion of drink driving. Police have asked anyone who witness the collision or the moments leading up to it to come forward, as well as anyone who may have footage. "At around 6.15am, a Peugeot 308 collided with the nearside barrier between Junctions 1 and 2 of the M50," a West Mercia Police spokesperson said.
"The driver, a woman in her 30s, was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for treatment. An eight-day-old baby was also taken to Birmingham Children's Hospital. "A 37-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of driving whilst under the influence of alcohol.
"We would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or who may have dashcam footage of the moments leading up to it."
