Higher priced option but very reliable and its operation is great , better than others I have had
I have had Ottocast products before and they are normally very good quality and this doesn’t disappoint either , it is a nice small form , they also supply a converter if needed to USB C, but I used it plugged direct into my USB port , which is great as it is hardly noticeable , but I suppose it depends where your USB input is
It comes with an instruction book , and you have to connect to it with Bluetooth , it set up really easy and straight away my stereo recognised it and switched to car play .
It literally took 5 minutes to setup , if that !
Now when I get in my car as soon as I switch on , it comes up on the screen and connects to my phone , it seems to be very reliable
All my apps work fine and the music too, it has a button on it too , which you can press and it will disconnect it or connect it which is really handy rather than having to pull it out of the USB instead
I find with all of these Bluetooth and Wifi dongles , you will never get the same quality of sound compared to a wired connection , but this is very good , and reliable and I can see why it was a higher price as it works far better than previous brands I have had
I would recommend this and think it is worth the the higher price which is reflected in its performance

Small enough to tuck behind the USB flap, the Ottocast Mini Core looks more like a memory stick than a piece of in-car technology; I almost mistook it for my daughter’s homework stick until I noticed the logo. The build feels solid and the little USB-C adapter rattling loose in the box was a bonus, so no rummaging through the odds-and-ends drawer.
On a soggy Monday school run I put it to the test. Engine on, and CarPlay appeared within about three seconds, with no Lightning cable snaking round my coffee. When my fifteen-year-old hijacked Spotify the stream stayed smooth as we edged through seaside traffic, our dog howling in the back for good measure.
Wi-Fi 6 clearly helps, map panning is instant and calls sound cleaner than with my old dongle. The dual-memory trick handed control to my wife’s Samsung without any menu-digging. It did freeze once outside the farm shop and needed a quick re-plug, so it is not completely flawless.
Even so, ditching cable clutter has been worth it, and my phone’s port finally gets a rest. Strong features, tidy design and respectable reliability make it good value, just shy of perfect.

This Ottocast is quite well priced and is nice and convenient. Having to constantly plug in or remove the cable from my phone to use Apple CarPlay (or Android Auto) is an absolute pain. This with handy little gadget, your life’s mate a lot easier and less stressful if you forget to plug your phone in occasionally and get a phone call like I do. You can just plug this in and leave it, and your phone will automatically connect when you get in the car, fantastic!. It’s very compact and neat so doesn’t get in the way when left plugged in

A great optio
We got this mini CarPlay to try and it has to be one of the easiest ways to transform your car in to a smart car. A lot of systems do get dated and this uses the latest tech, and your phone, to do it all better.
This connects every time the vehicle is turned on and we haven’t had any disconnects from it at all. It should reconnect if the connection is lost through. When connected it allows you to take calls, use maps, play music and everything the CarPlay offers. It’s quick a snappy to use as well.
What makes this one a bit special is the size. It’s really tiny and you’d hardly notice it was there. Not like some big USB stick. It’s looks really good and modern. This works with both iPhones and android.
You can get cheaper devices but this one is small and reliable. It’s fast and has just worked. We’re happy with it.
