Suspected drunk driver caught swerving across lanes on M4

They were reported by a dozen concerned drivers

A suspected drunk driver was arrested after being spotted swerving across lanes on the busy M4 motorway[1].

The driver was reported to Avon and Somerset Police[2] by a dozen concerned motorists earlier today (Sunday April 19) on the M4 southbound near junction 22 at Pilning where the drive in question was eventually stopped by officers.

The force took to social media to thank the motorists who reported the suspected drunk driver.

In a post on X ( twitter[3] ) they said: "We'd like to thank more than a dozen people who reported a suspected drink driver swerving across lanes on the M4 westbound today, Sun 19 Apr.

Officers safely stopped the car before junction 22.

"Thankfully we've had no reports of collisions or injuries from the incident."
