A premium feeling, decently functioning adapte
I’ve reviewed several of these wireless CarPlay adapters before, and this one immediately stands out as a step up.

First thing you notice is the build—this isn’t cheap plastic. The metal shell gives it a more premium feel and probably helps with heat management too, which is important for something that’s always plugged in.

Setup was refreshingly straightforward. The interface is clear, instructions actually make sense (which isn’t always the case with these), and it connected without any messing around.

Once set up, it reconnects quickly when you start the car, which is exactly what you want. No fiddling, no waiting around.

Nice touch that it comes with a USB-A to USB-C adapter as well—means you’re covered regardless of your car’s port.
Overall, just a solid, well-made adapter that does what it’s supposed to without the usual hassle.

Overall another quality product from Ottocast.

Easy Setup and Works Great, Despite a Small Quirk
Setup for this adapter was fairly straightforward, and once it was paired the first time, it has been automatically reconnecting every time we get in the car. That part has been completely seamless, which is exactly what we were hoping for.

There is one odd thing worth mentioning: after pairing, the device shows up in both the Bluetooth menu and the WiFi menu, but it doesn’t actually display as “connected” in either place. I’m not sure if that will matter down the line, but so far it hasn’t caused any issues with performance. Everything still connects quickly and works the way it should.

Overall, it’s been working great for us. The automatic reconnection is super convenient, and aside from that strange device connectivity not showing, it’s been a smooth experience so far.

Here is how I rate items:
5 Stars = Exceeds expectations, a good find.
4 Stars = Very good quality, worth trying.
3 Stars = Decent and does what is says.
2 Stars = Below expectations with noticeable issues.
1 Star = Very poor quality, would not recommend.

Game Changer To Get CarPlay Working Seamlessly
Total game changer in my husband’s car. He has a ’22 Lincoln Aviator and shockingly there’s no ability to have CarPlay connect unless the phone is plugged in. This little plug in changes all that.

The package comes with two different types of connectors. One is USB and the other is Type C, so it can adapt to either technology in the car.

Set up was a total breeze. Directions were very clear but we simply plugged it in and let BlueTooth take over. I think it took all of a minute or two and CarPlay was up and working.

We also tested whether we could have the same or other phone plugged in and whether it would interfere with the Bluetooth but it kept working perfectly.

The unit is very small, too, either just as the USB or if you use the Type C plug in with it. It’s no bigger than the size of a quarter. And it’s a silver and black color so it really just fades into the background. Our plugs are in the closed center console so it’s not exposed, but it’s small and neutral enough to be unnoticeable.

We’ve used it for two days now and each time my husband gets in the car it automatically syncs seamlessly. We have Apple iPhones so can’t speak to connections with Android. But ours worked great and we’re both easy to set up.

Overall, this is a quality find and it’s completely changed for the better our experience using CarPlay.

Best Android auto adapter I've ever used
The OTTOCAST Mini Nova is my favorite wireless adapter for Android auto. Fast, incredibly simple, easy and it JUST WORKS. It costs more than other adapters because it works way better than other adapters. I plugged the adapter into my car, I paired my phone and within 60 seconds, I was connected and using Android Auto on my drive. The next time I got in my car, my phone automatically connected and Android Auto just worked. This is such a convenience when coming from using a cord to plug your phone in. Aside from convenient, this adapter helps to save your phone’s USB port by reducing wear and tear caused by plugging your cable in every time you drive. The device itself is small and fits easily in my USB adapter and phone compartment. Setup is very simple, connection quality has been excellent, reliability has been perfect. This adapter works great. Sure, it’s more expensive than other Android Auto wireless adapters, but it’s worth the money because of how well it works, how small it is and how reliable it is overall. I really like this unit and plan on using it for a long time. It’s become a part of my daily drive and I’m not going back to using a cord for Android Auto anytime soon.

Tiny dongle, reliable connection between car and phone
I’ve got a few Ottocast devices for my car, and also gifted a few to family members. They’re always reliable, and this is no exception. It’s a tiny dongle, which you just plug into your cars USB slow. You pair it with your phone, and it’s good to go. All their range work on this same principle. Plug and play, with very minimal setup, thankfully.

Functionally, it does exactly what you need it to. Like all their dongles, they connect fast, and work as an effective bridge between your car and your phone. Once you’ve used one, you’ve used them all, so it’s more of a case of finding one for a decent price, and one which will fit your car the best. This is probably the smallest I’ve used from Ottocast, so I imagine few, if any, cars will struggle to fit this one.

So yeah, it’s small, looks and feels premium, and more importantly, it offers a solid, reliable connection. Good stuff.

    Convert wired to wireless CarPlay
I have a wired CarPlay system in my VW which works well however wireless is just that bit for convenient. I saw this device and thought I would give it a go.

Setup was very straightforward just following a few simple instructions and connecting up to the phones bluetooth. Once connected this works perfectly. I have a USB-A data port hidden in a little cubby behind the gearstick so the adapter is hidden and discrete. Now I just need to leave my phone in my pocket when I get in the car and it automatically sinks up to CarPlay. No more plugging in and then forgetting and leaving the phone in the car as it is now staying in my pocket.

Once connected I have had no stability issues, the connected seems stable.

If you want to turn your wired CarPlay to wireless then this discrete little device will do that for you. At 79.99 (at the time of writing) this isn’t the cheapest out there but it works well which is all that I can ask of it.

    great stuff
Small and discreet, but makes a big difference to everyday driving. Setup is quick and simple, just plug in and it’s ready to go. Connection is stable and reconnects automatically, so there’s no need to keep pairing each time you get in the car. Works smoothly for navigation, music and calls, making everything feel more seamless while on the move.

Best car upgrade Ive bought in a long time!
Genuinely one of the best small purchases I’ve made for my car. Just plug it in, pair your phone once, and from then on it connects automatically every time you get in — no faffing with cables. The connection is fast, stable, and I’ve had zero dropouts.
The build quality is excellent too — solid aluminium, compact, and it sits flush in the USB port without looking out of place. Works brilliantly with both CarPlay and Android Auto and the dual band connection keeps things smooth even on longer journeys.
At 79.99 it’s not cheap, but honestly it’s worth every penny. If you’re still plugging your phone in with a cable every time you get in the car, this is the upgrade you didn’t know you needed.

One of the better budget wireless adaptors
This is a tiny (see photo) USB dongle for converting wired CarOlsy / Android Auto into wireless. Just need to plug it into your car USB port once and your telephone will connect automatically via Bluetooth + Wi-Fi after that. All this only takes 1-2 minutes. It’s metal built so looks and feels more premium than the cheaper plastic rivals. It works efficiently with both platforms CarPlay + Android Auto into one device. There is a small lag compared to wired (1-2 seconds) but that’s no great issue unless you are picky about responsiveness. Connection is generally very stable once paired. Audio quality is good.

    Ottocast Mini Nova Wireless CarPlay
The Ottocast Mini Nova provides a streamlined solution for drivers looking to transition from wired to wireless CarPlay or Android Auto without compromising on cabin aesthetics. Its ultra-compact aluminium design is significantly smaller than previous models, ensuring a discreet fit that blends into the vehicle’s console while feeling durable and high-quality to the touch. In terms of functionality, the dual-band 2.4GHz and 5GHz connection offers a stable link that minimizes lag during navigation and music playback, and the fast auto-reconnect feature typically pairs with the phone within seconds of starting the vehicle. The ease of use is a particular highlight, as the plug-and-play setup requires no complex software installation—simply connect via Bluetooth once and the hardware handles the rest. While it maintains a relatively low operating temperature, the internal processing does not produce any audible noise, keeping the focus entirely on your audio system. Regarding fit and comfort, the unit is so unobtrusive that it essentially becomes part of the dashboard, removing the clutter of dangling cables. Considering its competitive price point and the elimination of physical tethering, the Mini Nova represents excellent value for money for anyone seeking a reliable and aesthetically pleasing upgrade for their daily commute in a calm and balanced manner.
