Surprising and tangible results on dry winter ski
Between dry winter skin conditions and visiting family who have very hard water in their shower last weekend, my skin was so itchy! That is where Grown Alchemist Resurfacing Targeted Body Wash came to the rescue.
But first I will tell you, this is definitely not your stereotypical body wash. Don’t expect it to be super bubbly and lathery, because that’s not what is designed for. Containing glycolic, lactic and salicylic acids, you’re not going to get that kind of lather. What you are going to get is a wonderful thinner gel with a lovely tea tree sort of essence. And after a light scrub and rinse, it literally left my skin feeling silky smooth and still moist even after drying. So I can definitely attest to the exfoliation and resurfacing that removed that itchy layer left by hard water and winter weather. Normally I would slather on a bunch of body lotion afterwards, but I really didn’t even feel like it needed it.
So whether you have dry skin, clogged pores or just plain dull skin, I really implore you to try Grown Alchemist. It really surprised me at what a difference it made after my shower, and I have tried a lot of body washes. This bottle is worth every penny! If I could give it six stars, I would!
Burns a bit, but makes my skin super smooth
I don’t use body lotion as often as I should and it shows. My skin is always dry, my legs flaky and bumpy, my back itchy and tight…it’s a mess. But I just don’t like the way heavy body lotion feels sitting on my skin and lighter lotions typically don’t do much other than in the very short term. Since this is described as a “resurfacing” body lotion, I figured that this might be a better fit since it’s intended to help with skin texture.
The texture of this lotion is what I expected considering its purpose as a targeted/treatment product rather than a general moisturizing body cream. It’s a thin cream, not liquid but runny, with a scent that’s lemony with a little hint of something herbal. I’ll be honest. I can’t stand the smell. Lemon and lemongrass aren’t scents I’m particularly fond of and one (or both) of those are mainly what I’m getting here. It’s a spa-like scent, bright and fresh.
When I apply this, it goes on very smoothly thanks to the thin, spreadable texture. It sinks in quickly, but not so fast that I find that I have to use extra to get complete coverage on the area I’m applying it to. I don’t feel anything initially, but get a mild to moderate stinging/burning sensation that happens after about 5 seconds and lasts for maybe 30 seconds total.
I have sensitive skin, so I’m not surprised that this caused some burning, especially considering that dry skin is compromised skin, so I was already more likely to feel some discomfort. It’s not enough to stop me from using it but it does cause me to limit myself to using this once every 2-3 days instead of every day and to be careful to avoid more delicate areas of my skin.
Even after the first use, my skin felt noticeably softer. Immediately after application, it didn’t feel like it had done anything yet, but when I reached down to scratch my leg half an hour later, I felt how soft it had left my skin. Where my legs were dry, flaky wastelands before, they weren’t visibly ashy or flaky anymore and the dead skin didn’t prickle where it touched my pants anymore.
In spite of not liking the smell and having to work around the sensitivity of my skin just a bit, I really like this. I would reorder, especially during the drier months when my skin gets extra flaky.
Low Suds Body Cleanser With Noticeable Smoothing Results
This has a true gel texture and it stays that way in the shower. It does not suds very much, which works well for this kind of formula. The brand uses what they call octo acids, which is their blend of gentle exfoliating acids that help smooth and brighten the skin without any grit or harshness. They do the resurfacing work quietly in the background, so the low foam texture actually makes sense.
The scent is different from the regular Grown Alchemist body cleansers I have used. Their standard body washes usually smell more botanical and aromatic, but this one leans earthy and slightly medicinal. I assume it is because this is a targeted resurfacing cleanser rather than one of their everyday aromatic formulas. The scent fits the treatment style of the product and does not linger once you rinse.
My favorite way to use it is with a back scrubber, the kind with the two straps on each side. I apply the gel directly onto the scrubber and use it to cleanse my back, which is usually the area that gets the least attention. The combination of the gel, the mild acids, and the gentle exfoliation from the scrubber leaves my back feeling cleaner and smoother without any irritation. It is an easy way to give that area a little extra care.
Even though it does not foam much, it rinses clean and leaves the skin feeling fresh rather than tight. The bottle has that minimalist apothecary look Grown Alchemist is known for, and the pump dispenses a steady amount so you do not waste product.
If you like body care that leans into gentle resurfacing and visible smoothness without feeling abrasive, this fits right in. It leaves the skin looking more even and refined, especially on areas that benefit from a little extra attention.
his is a fantastic body wash for my dry, aging ski
This Grown Alchemist Resurfacing Targeted Body Cleanser is exactly what I was looking for. The older I get (I am 57), the more I have signs of sun damage and aging on my skin, especially my legs and arms. After using this body wash for several weeks with every shower, I can see visible improvement in skin tone and texture. My dark spots are fading and blending in more, my red undertones have calmed down, and my dry crepey skin texture has improved. It’s almost hard to believe what a difference it has made. I don’t have the matching lotion, but I’m going to order it, as Grown Alchemist says the two together work even better. I also love the scent of this body wash, which is botanical and almost woody. It doesn’t take much to hit all of my trouble spots, I just squirt one pump onto a silicone scrubber and I’m good to go. Grown Alchemist is one of my favorite skincare brands, and this product does indeed perform well, just like all the other Grown Alchemist products I have tried. I am a big fan of this body wash, and I’ll be back to buy more when my bottle runs out!
