Tough installatio
Replacing a worn-out rubber coupling under the car is a filthy job. I wrestled this solid polyurethane and aluminium disc into place between the gearbox and the prop shaft. Lining up the thick metal sleeves with the bolt holes while lying on my back was exhausting. Once bolted down tightly, the annoying clunking noise I used to hear when lifting off the throttle completely vanished. The rigid material transfers power much more directly to the rear wheels, making the car feel tighter during aggressive gear changes. I use my car heavily on the track, and this component withstands the harsh torque loads without tearing apart like the original rubber parts always do. The downside is a noticeable increase in whining noise from the transmission entering the cabin at highway speeds. It behaves exactly the way a heavy-duty driveline component should, providing durability at the expense of comfort.
Needs minor trimming
The factory airbox restricted engine breathing heavily. Unbolting the original plastic intake and fitting this shiny pipework opened up the engine bay visually. The heat shield fits snugly against the chassis, blocking hot air from the radiator effectively. The induction roar under heavy acceleration sounds aggressive, drowning out the exhaust note completely. Throttle response feels slightly more urgent when putting the foot down to overtake. The silicone hoses required trimming slightly to fit the throttle body perfectly, adding extra time to the fitting process. The supplied hose clamps feel slightly cheap, prompting a swap for stronger stainless steel ones. Cruising gently on the motorway remains quiet, only getting loud when revving high. The filter element catches dust efficiently and looks simple enough to wash out later. Sucking in cold air directly from the front grille improves high-end pulling power quite noticeably. Securing the main bracket tightly stops the metal tubing from vibrating against the inner wing.
