Great upgrade!
This product fits my 2011 Zafira perfectly. The 7-inch screen size is just right, with crisp and sharp image quality. Connecting to CarPlay is effortless and convenient, and the screen projection responds instantly—truly outstanding performance!
Affordable and full of features
Short version: Highly recommend, fair price, good tech, a lot of features and a very easy setup. The camera can be a tricky to install so take your time with it and have an extra pair of hands nearby.
Full Breakdown:
I bought this a week ago so I’ve had some time to use it and set it up. I have a Corsa SE 2012 so the setup was very, very easy. A simple switch out from the old unit. I did a bit of cable management for the GPS, microphone and the two USBs that come with it. You do have to give it a bit of a push to get it in, but once it’s in. It’s secure.
I did have a problem with the ZLINK5 app, it wasn’t working when I got it. This app is what gives you the Android Auto/Apple Carplay feature. A simple message to the supplier and they sent me over the install file. Once reinstalled, it was working perfectly. A note with this. If you want to use the wired Android Auto, you need a cable that supports higher transfers, usually the cable that came with your phone. There’s 2 USB’s, one is more powerful than the other so if it doesn’t work straight away and you know the cable is suitable. Try the other USB port.
if you have steering wheel controls. You need to go into the settings of the radio and choose your car. The factory password is 000000. It does say in the book but it can be hard to miss if you don’t know what you’re looking for. The list of car manufactures was confusing, I didn’t recognise any of the options but when you press on one. You see a list of cars in that category. Audi, BMW, Vauxhall (Opel everywhere else) etc etc. There was 3 options just for my car. 1 didn’t work but the 2nd one did. So if it doesn’t work straight away, go through the list and see if you can spot your manufacturer
Now I did encounter a very annoying technical issue. Once my phone connected and Android Auto started working it was fine until I got out the car and then got back in. The audio would skip like a scratched CD and jump around. I tried so many work arounds to fix this. It turns out it’s a Bluetooth issue with your phone. It’s an easy fix, you just need to go into your phones Bluetooth settings. Look for the radio, go into the settings of it. There’s an option called Media share. You don’t need this on for your music to play as Android Auto uses your phones WiFi to connect. By having it on, you’re basically sending the information to the radio twice which causes it to jump around.
I did find the music to sound very muffled when I first hit play. Thankfully there’s a built in equaliser, if you just knock bass (left section) up slightly and then the treble (right section) this cleared it out. It looks like a graph and you want it to have a little dip in the middle like a U shape.
I’ve not got round to installing the camera yet but I’m lucky that my car has reverse sensors. When I put the car into reverse, it does switch to the camera but obviously doesn’t show anything as it’s not installed. Seeing that the radio recognises it, is half a problem for me. It’s also very quick to switch to camera mode which is always helpful
Bonus points: You can use the radio without android auto or carplay. You can hotspot on your phone or when at home, connect to WiFi to download apps of the Appstore. If you’re missing something, you can just download the app to get it setup.
Considering radios can be expensive, if this fits your car. I highly recommend, you get some good hardware for the price. The downside, it can be a bit slow with the responses sometimes but to be honest. It doesn’t matter what radio you’ve got, the processing power inside is never going to be as good as your phone.
