Reliable and Convenient EV Charging Solutio
This portable EV charger has been a great addition for keeping my electric vehicle powered up. The Type 2 to 3-pin plug configuration means it’s compatible with standard sockets, which is very convenient for home charging. I found the 5-meter cable length to be sufficient for my needs, offering good flexibility without being overly long. The LED status indicators are clear and easy to understand at a glance, showing whether it’s in standby, actively charging, or if there’s an issue. It provides a consistent power output, which is important for battery health. This charger offers a straightforward and dependable way to top up my car.
Very basic but works well, good price at time of review.
I have had several plug in chargers from both car manufacturers and 3rd parties and they vary considerably. This is reasonable but certainly not one of the best ones I’ve used.
The charger is relatively light weight with a medium weight flexible cable. The cable length at 5m is good for me but some people may prefer longer and they claim to sell these but they must be under a different listing.
The unit has the typical very short length of flex to the 3 pin plug, this can be annoying depending on where you plug it in. The unit has a hole in the back so it can be wall mounted, this is very useful if you are going to plug it into a high wall mounted mains socket.
The unit feels like reasonable quality but I’ve certainly had better. It’s IP65 rated so the unit can be left in the rain as long as the 3 pin plug is dry. It doesn’t have any kind of screen to show you how much charge is going in and the very basic indicator lights are difficult to see even in moderate sunlight.
The current can only be delivered at 13A so be sure that your home electricity socket is up to supplying 13A for long periods of time or it could over heat. There is only no kind of timer so you’ll need to use your cars scheduling or a smart plug to have any kind of decent control over it.
The type 2 plug seems to be good quality and I’ve had no issues charging my mini with it so far.
Overall this is a decent if not great quality unit with no issues I have found so far. It is however very basic with poor indicator lights and no controls or options for charge rate. It’s one saving grace was that at the time of review it had a very large discount making it under 100 which is good value if you are happy charging at only 13A.
The same company make a much better charger with better build quality, optional charge rate, built in timer and screen. It’s usual price is cheaper than this one even when there’s no discounts.
Great and works well
This adapter proves to be a surprisingly capable and affordable solution for EV owners.
While it may not have all the extra features or premium finish that some of the more expensive adapters offer, it does exactly what it is designed to do. Its main purpose is to bridge the compatibility gap between charging systems, and it performs that role effectively and reliably. Sometimes the simplest tools are the most useful, and this adapter fits well into that category.
One of the things I appreciated most is the compact and lightweight design. It doesn’t take up much space at all, which means it’s easy to keep it in the car at all times just in case it’s needed. It fits comfortably in a glove compartment, centre console, or charging cable bag, so you don’t have to worry about it being bulky or inconvenient to carry around.
The adapter is also very straightforward to use. The locking mechanism feels secure and well-designed, allowing it to attach firmly to both the charging station connector and the vehicle’s charging port. Once connected, everything feels stable and properly aligned, which gives confidence that it will stay in place during the charging process.
In terms of performance, it has delivered exactly what I expected. The adapter consistently supports the appropriate charging speed and handles the current and voltage without any noticeable issues. Charging sessions have been smooth and reliable, and it doesn’t appear to slow things down compared to using a direct connector.
Overall, this adapter is a practical and dependable accessory for EV owners. It’s affordable, easy to carry, simple to use, and performs its job well. This is a handy piece of equipment to keep in your car for those situations.
a nice portable EV charge
I’ve been using the VDLPOWERVP Type 2 to 3-Pin Plug EV Charger and it’s turned out to be a really practical portable charging option.
One of the best things about it is the 13A output delivering roughly 3kW charging speed. That’s noticeably faster than many portable chargers that are limited to 10A, so it makes a real difference when you need to top up the battery at home or while visiting somewhere with only a standard socket available.
The build quality feels solid and the 5-metre cable gives plenty of reach, which is useful when the socket isn’t right next to the car. The LED status indicators are simple but helpful, clearly showing the charging state so you can quickly check that everything is working properly.
Another big plus is the IP65 protection rating, which gives peace of mind when charging outdoors in typical British weather. It feels well protected against rain and dust, making it suitable for regular use outside.
Overall, this is a reliable and convenient portable EV charging station. The faster 3kW charging compared to most 10A chargers, combined with the long cable, clear indicators, and weather protection, makes it a great backup or everyday home charging solution for EVs and PHEVs.
