Product Description

A Solid and Reliable Portable EV Charge
This portable charger is a well-built and dependable piece of kit, perfect for use at home or as a backup to keep in the car for travel.
My first impression is that this is a quality item. The cable is thick and feels durable, and the main control unit is robust. It plugs into a standard 3-pin UK socket and provides a slow but steady charge, which is perfect for overnight charging at home. I tested it on my PHEV and it worked flawlessly. The unit allows you to adjust the current between 6A, 10A, and 13A, which is a useful feature for managing charging speed or if you are using an older socket. The 5-metre cable provides a good amount of reach. The IP65 rating also gives confidence for using it outdoors in typical British weather.
The main pros are its portability, build quality, and adjustable current. It’s a simple, plug-and-play solution that doesn’t require any special installation. There are no real cons for what it is, but users should understand that this is a 3kW “granny charger,” so it is not intended for rapid charging. It will take many hours to fully charge a pure EV, but it’s ideal for hybrids or for topping up overnight.
For its intended purpose as a reliable, portable, slow charger, this product is excellent. It feels safe, is built to last, and does its job perfectly.
a straightforward portable ev charger that covered everyday charging needs
Having a simple backup charger felt important, especially for times when I am not near a dedicated charging point, and in my opinion this one fits that role well. I have used it mainly at home and occasionally when away, and charging felt stable without fluctuations, which is what I care about most with a portable unit. Adjustable current settings were useful depending on where it was plugged in, and it gave me confidence that I was not stressing the socket unnecessarily. Cable length worked well for my driveway and made positioning the car easier without awkward stretching. Build felt solid and weather protection meant I did not worry when charging outside in less than perfect conditions. I like that it does not try to be clever or complicated, it just plugs in and does what it is supposed to do. In my experience this is a practical option for daily top ups or as a reliable travel charger that you can keep in the boot and forget about until it is needed.
Very nice quality and chargers at upto 13A.
I have had several plug in chargers from both car manufacturers and 3rd parties and they vary considerably. This one compares very favourably to others I have used.
The charger is relatively light weight with a light weight flexible cable. The cable length at 5m is good for me but some people may prefer 6 or 7m.
The unit has the typical very short length of flex to the 3 pin plug, this can be annoying depending on where you plug it in. The unit has a hole in the back so it can be wall mounted, this is very useful if you are going to plug it into a high wall mounted mains socket.
The unit is very nicely made and feels like good quality, it even looks attractive. It’s IP65 rated so the unit can be left in the rain as long as the 3 pin plug is dry. The screen is clear and useful at showing the current charging status and the single soft button can be used to change the current and set a charging time.
The current can be set to 6/8/10/13A but be sure that your home electricity socket is upto supplying 13A for long periods of time or it could over heat, if in doubt set it to 10A. The timer will allow upto a 10 hour charging session to be set in 1 hour increments.
The type 2 plug seems to be good quality and I’ve had no issues charging my mini with it so far.
Overall this is a good quality unit with no issues I have found so far. Priced at around 130 it’s about the typical price and worth it in my opinion.
Charges car overnigh
I plugged this unit into the standard garage socket to initiate charging immediately. The control box displays basic information clearly, confirming the current flow without requiring complex setups. I uncoiled the long cable from the wall plug to the vehicle port, finding adequate slack to prevent tension on the connections. Uncoiling the cable proved difficult on colder mornings because the thick protective casing becomes remarkably rigid. I used considerable effort and hand strength to wind it back up after use. The charging rate remained consistent throughout the night, completely refilling the battery by morning. I left the control box exposed to light rain during a driveway charge, experiencing no functional issues. I pushed firmly to click the plug into place within the car socket. Disconnecting the unit happens smoothly when pressing the release button. The bulky control block hangs awkwardly from the wall socket, requiring an additional hook to support the weight and prevent pulling on the electrical pins.
obust and weatherproof
This is a dependable solution for charging at home using a standard domestic socket. The cable feels heavy duty and durable, yet remains flexible enough to coil for storage. The connection to the vehicle is firm and clicks into place with confidence. I tested the different current settings and they remained stable throughout the night without the unit overheating. The weatherproofing is effective; it sat out in heavy rain while connected and continued to function without issue. The length of the cable provides enough reach to park comfortably without needing to be right next to the plug. It serves as a primary charger for those who do not have a dedicated wall box.
