Robust and Reliable Fast Charging Solutio
This car charging cable is a high-quality piece of equipment that feels built to last. The 8-metre length is particularly useful, providing plenty of reach even if the charging point is not perfectly positioned next to the vehicle. The 7kW capability ensures a decent charging speed for home or commercial use, significantly faster than a standard three-pin plug.

The cable itself is thick and well-insulated, designed to withstand outdoor use in various weather conditions. The connectors fit securely and feel very robust, with a solid weight that inspires confidence in the build quality. The inclusion of the 32A commando plug is perfect for those with a dedicated high-power supply installed.

    Pros and Cons
The main strengths are the impressive 8-metre length and the high-quality, durable construction. The charging speed is consistent and reliable. The only point to note is the weight of the cable, which is expected for this length and power rating, but it makes it a substantial item to handle.

    Verdict
An excellent investment for electric vehicle owners looking for a long, reliable, and high-capacity charging cable.

    A great buy - long 8m cable
I ordered this charger for on the go, when I don’t have access to my usual charging point. It comes in its own storage bag so is easy to keep in the car.

A useful feature of this charger for me is the 8m cable length. It gives far more flexibility than the shorter cables that come with many chargers, especially when public charging bays aren’t ideally positioned or when parking where the socket isn’t right next to the car. I don’t have to awkwardly reverse or stretch the cable to its limit, which makes things easier for me.

Charging performance has been reliable so far. It delivers an advertised 7kW charge (depending on your setup), and I’ve found it to be steady rather than temperamental, which is exactly what you want from a portable charger. Plug in, it gets on with the job, and there’s no fuss.

The build quality feels solid. The cable is thick without being too heavy, and the connectors feel secure when plugged in. It doesn’t have that flimsy feel that some cheaper portable chargers can have, and it coils back up neatly enough to store in the bag/boot without taking up too much space.

I also like the portability aspect. It’s ideal as a backup for trips, overnight stays, or visiting family where I’m relying on a less convenient charging setup.

Overall, this is a dependable, well-made portable charger that prioritises practicality. Not overly complicated, just a long, sturdy cable that charges consistently and gives you more freedom with where and how you plug in. For anyone who regularly charges away from a fixed wall box, the extra length alone makes it a good upgrade.

From a British Company with all the necessary safety certificatio
Everybody’s EV charging needs are different and layouts at various homes differ too. I wanted a long cable which would run from a dedicated 32 Amp circuit terminating inside the garage (not outside) with a countdown timer and current selection. This item fits the bill perfectly. It has the large CEE ‘Commando’ socket at the power end.

Using the charging cable is simplicity itself, and the instruction leaflet provided is extremely well written and full of handy information. All you need to remember is to select the charging current (10/16/24/32 Amps) and plug into the car. AFTER connecting to the car you can set the control unit timer if you wish.

There is a small LED display screen giving essential information such as mains voltage, selected current, elapsed time, rate of charge in kWh and total charge delivered per session. The main body of the unit has a simple led status indicator.

The short run of cable between the control unit and CEE connection is not particularly forgiving in terms of flexibility, so I sited the power outlet just above the garage workbench. The control unit does, however, has a cut-out in the rear panel so it could be hung from a suitable fastening on a wall to eliminate unnecessary tension on the cable.

This is exactly what I wanted. It means I can charge inside or outside the garage without using my outside wall-mounted EV charger. The 8 metres total cable length is useful.

I have to point out that the total cost of the electrical infrastructure installation required to use this charging cable was well under 100, making it far less expensive, albeit significantly less intelligent, than a wall mounted charger.

No Apps are required to make the charger work. Select your preferred charge times according to your chosen electricity supply tariff and program your car to receive the charge accordingly. In most cases this will be between midnight and 6am. Plug the charger into the car, plug the other end into the CEE socket and switch it on. Select the charge rate you require. Then go back into the car and invoke the charging program you created.

Because NRG Charge are a British company (albeit using components from other countries), the charger complies with all the relevant EU and UK safety legislation.

    fast 32A charging speed
Using this with a blue industrial socket significantly reduces the time needed to top up the battery compared to a standard domestic plug. The cable is thick and heavy-duty, suggesting it will withstand daily use in a workshop or driveway environment. The interface is simple to operate, and the automatic protection features provide peace of mind regarding safety. It locks securely into the vehicle and maintains a steady flow of power throughout the cycle. The casing is rugged and the 8-metre length is very practical for larger vehicles or awkward parking spots. It is a high-performance portable tool that bridges the gap between slow home charging and fixed units.
