Man dies in collision as lorry driver arrested
North Wales Police have tragically confirmed that a man has died as a result of this morning's collision. A lorry driver has been arrested in connection with the tragedy. The force's full statement reads:
We are investigating a road traffic collision in which a 35-year-old man sadly died.
Officers were called at 8.14am this morning (Tuesday) to the westbound carriageway on the A55 near to Kinmel Services at Bodelwyddan. "Upon attendance, the body of a male pedestrian was discovered. The road was closed whilst our investigation into the incident was undertaken.
The man's family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers. "During the course of our enquiries, the 62-year-old driver of a HGV has this afternoon been arrested in connection with the incident, and our investigation is ongoing. The road was reopened at 4.45pm.
"We are appealing for anyone who travelled along the A55 between 4.50am and 5.10am, between St Asaph and Abergele on the westbound or eastbound carriageway, and who has dashcam footage, or who saw a pedestrian on the carriageway to contact us via our live webchat online or on 101 quoting ref C053155.
