LIVE: M5 motorcyclist seriously injured as crash shuts busy junction

A road leading off a major South West motorway was closed after a collision on Sunday evening, in which a motorcyclist suffered 'life-changing' injuries. The southbound exit of the M5 to Yate and Thornbury was partially closed for over six hours while an accident investigation and recovery were carried out. The collision is believed to have occurred between a car and a motorcyclist around this intersection.
Announcing the lane closure, Avon and Somerset Police said: "A motorcyclist sustained injuries described as life-changing," and urged the public to come forward with any relevant information or dashcam footage. National Highways reported that there were "lanes closed" on the slip road to the B4509 and A38 at Junction 14. This junction is known as the Falfield Interchange.
The traffic monitoring site Inrix said: "M5 Southbound lane closed on exit slip road due to an accident at J14 B4509 (Thornbury/Falfield)."
However, Junction 14 was fully re-opened at around 1.30am on Monday morning.
This live incident has now ended.
