A woman from Liverpool has died following a crash on the M6[1]. Emergency services were called to the scene on the southbound stretch of the motorway near North Staffordshire at around 6.30pm on Monday, March 24.

Cheshire Police confirmed a 67-year-old woman from Liverpool[2] died following the crash. A 41-year-old man from Stoke-on-Trent was not injured and a 51-year-old man from Staffordshire was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Police are now appealing for witnesses to the incident, which occurred close to junction 16 of the motorway.

Officers and paramedics from the North West Ambulance Service were sent to the scene on Monday.

The crash involved a red Hyundai, a silver BMW, and a black Mercedes. The woman who died was driving the Hyundai, while the man from Stoke-on-Trent was behind the wheel of the Mercedes.

The motorway remained closed until approximately 2am on Tuesday morning. Police said enquiries into the incident are ongoing, reports Stoke on Trent Live[3].

Detective Inspector Steve Griffiths, from the force's serious collision unit, said: "The M6 is one of the main routes that runs through Cheshire and this incident would have occurred at a busy time of day, so we are urging anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward.

"We would also like to ask any motorists with any dashcam footage from around the time of the incident to get in touch." If you have any information, contact the Cheshire police on 101 and quote IML-2054666.
