Broadcast services provider gets new Volvo FE Electric

Supplied by Guili Chemello, senior transport solutions executive, Volvo Truck and Bus Centre South & East, the truck will help the company assess the potential to include other electric vehicles across its fleet. The FE Electric joins a fleet of 69 vehicles, more than 80% of which are Volvos.  Rohan Mitchell, ESG director EMG / Gravity Media, said: "In our steadfast commitment to a greener future, we proudly welcome this new Volvo FE Electric into our business.

As the truck produces zero tailpipe emissions it will have an instant impact on our carbon footprint, versus an equivalent diesel vehicle. "Volvo's team provided invaluable support throughout the design and specification process. Their expertise in electric vehicle technology and comprehensive understanding of our operational needs ensured that our new truck is tailored precisely to our requirements."

To deliver a range of around 200km, the FE Electric is equipped with two electric motors and three of the maximum four batteries available for the rigid. Working up to five days a week, this configuration should give the truck ample range and payload capacity. With a 150kW DC charger, 0 to 100% charge can be achieved in approximately two hours.

EMG / Gravity Media specified the truck with a day cab, full air suspension and Alcoa Dura-Bright alloy wheels. Other equipment includes electrically heated and operated mirrors, an air-suspended and heated driver's seat and digital radio. Safety features include adaptive cruise control with forward collision warning and advanced emergency braking, driver alert support, lane departure warning, lane change support and side collision avoidance support.

To access vehicle status and battery range information remotely, the truck is supplied with a subscription to Volvo's My Truck App.

The truck is on a Volvo gold repair and maintenance contract.
