Van driver taken to hospital after crash on busy road

A van driver has been taken to hospital after his vehicle collided with a car in the New Forest[1] on Tuesday morning. The A35 was brought to a standstill with traffic backing onto Bournemouth Road, Pikeshill, and Chapel Lane in Lyndhurst[2]. Emergency services closed Bournemouth Road in both directions after responding to a two-vehicle collision[3] between a van and a lorry shortly before 6.15am.

Police confirmed the driver of the van, a man in his 30s, suffered an injury in the crash and was taken to hospital for treatment - though their injuries were "not life-threatening." In a statement, a spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary said: "This appears to be a two-vehicle collision at Allum Green, on the A35, involving a van and a car, at 6.13am. "The driver of the van received an injury and has been taken to hospital for treatment, though it's not life-threatening or life-changing."
Crews from Hampshire County Council's highways teams were on scene.
