Merseyrail services are running late this morning after a lorry crashed into a railway bridge. Copy Lane in Aintree[1] has been closed by Merseyside Police[2] on Monday (February 24) morning after a lorry crashed into the railway bridge at Old Roan Station.

Police were called to the scene at around 7.30am following reports a lorry had smashed into the bridge. There have been no reported injuries, police said.

Emergency services are currently at the scene and a structural engineer will assess the bridge.

It's unclear how long the road will remain shut for this morning and motorists are advised to avoid the road while the incident is ongoing.

Merseyrail[3] has issued an update to customers on social media warning of delayed services on the Ormskirk[4] and Hunts Cross line this morning due to the incident.
