Essex drivers face long delays as lorry and two car crash closes bypass

Drivers were warned to expect long delays around the Stanford le Hope bypass on Monday night (February 24) after a crash. The collision on the A13 involved two cars and a lorry and happened at around 5.30pm. The road was initially closed in both directions, leading to severe delays and queues in the area.

It happened between A132 South Mayne (Pitsea Flyover, Pitsea) and A176 (Five Bells Interchange, Basildon), according to traffic information service Inrix. By 6.30pm the road remained closed heading west, with "very slow traffic" reported in the area. Inrix said there was congestion to Stanford Le Hope heading towards Southend and Sadlers Farm roundabout going the other way.

It also caused delays in Basildon and Horndon.
