Busy road blocked as lorry gets stuck in ditch

A busy road in Nottinghamshire[1] has been blocked after a lorry driver tried reversing onto a driveway and got his vehicle stuck. The East Trans truck is currently wedged across Cossall Road[2] in Trowell after the cab dropped into a ditch on Friday (February 28) morning. The driver[3] was unharmed but the blockage is causing delays for motorists[4] on what is a busy route, local councillor Richard MacRae said.

The Stapleford North ward councillor said: "I spoke to the driver and he said he was okay which is all that matters. "There's a house there that's getting lots of work done to it. It looks like he was trying to reverse in but Cossall Road is not the best place for a lorry to go.

"The cabs in a ditch and the rest of it is just blocking the whole road." Cllr MacRae said the lorry driver was waiting for a recovery vehicle to arrive."

Traffic monitoring site Inrix said: "Mill Lane in both directions blocked, slow traffic due to accident, a lorry involved from A609 Nottingham Road to Dead Lane."
