Tragedy as man dies after being hit by lorry on major Glasgow road

A MAN has died after being struck by a lorry on Glasgow's Clydeside Expressway yesterday afternoon. Emergency crews raced to the busy road which runs through the city at around 1.35pm.

The tragic incident involved a pedestrian and a HGV. Sadly, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Formal identification has not taken place yet. Officers confirmed that enquiries into the incident are ongoing.

And have urged anyone with information or dashcam footage to get in touch. We told how officers blocked off the road in both directions[1] following the fatal smash.

The slip-off at Junction 19 was sealed off by police. Traffic started to build on the busy road with huge tailbacks spotted as cars approached the incident. The road re-opened nearly six hours later at 7.20pm.

Sergeant Adnan Alan for the Road Policing Unit said: "Our thoughts are with family and friends of the man who died.

"Our enquiries are ongoing and I'd like to thank motorists for their patience whilst we dealt with this incident. "The road re-opened around 7.20pm on Wednesday, 29 January, 2025. "We continue to appeal for anyone with dash-cam footage, or who have witnessed the crash to please come forward.

"Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting 1688 of 29 January, 2025."
