M5 grinds to complete standstill after car and lorry crash

All traffic on the M5 near Tewkesbury was at a standstill following a crash this morning, Wednesday, January 22. Traffic was being held after a two-vehicle crash involving a car and lorry on the northbound carriageway near Tewkesbury. Roads and traffic monitoring site, Inrix, first reported the crash at 8.10am.

It said: "All traffic being temporarily held and stationary traffic due to accident, a car and a lorry involved on M5 Northbound from J9 A46 (Tewkesbury) to J8 M50. The accident happened just after 8am." A spokesperson for Gloucestershire Police has said: "Emergency services were called to a report of a two-vehicle collision on the M5 northbound close to Junction 8 at around 8am this morning (Wednesday 22 January).

"Nobody was believed to be injured in the collision, which involved a lorry and a car.

A rolling roadblock was put in place while the road was cleared."
