LIVE: Long delays on M62 after traffic stopped following crash

Drivers are being warned to expect disruption following a crash on the M62. All traffic was temporarily stopped on the M62 eastbound at junction 22, near Saddleworth, according to the Inrix traffic monitoring system. It follows a collision this morning (January 14).

National Highways is reported a lane closure in the area, with four-mile queues approaching the scene. Traffic is also slow on the westbound carriageway approaching Manchester due to onlookers, according to Inrix. A spokesperson for National Highways Yorkshire wrote on X: "Lane 1 is CLOSED on the #M62 eastbound within J22 near #Denshaw due to a collision.

"National Highways Traffic Officer is on scene. There are currently delays of 40 mins and approx.

4 miles of congestion." An update from Inrix earlier said: "All traffic being temporarily held and stationary traffic due to accident on M62 Eastbound at J22 A672 (Rishworth Moor).

Traffic slow on the opposite side likely due to onlookers." Traffic is now moving again with long delays.
