What we know about milk lorry crash which left the driver ‘critically injured’

The man was taken to hospital in a critical condition following the crash in Honeybourne, near Evesham shortly after 8am this morning (Friday). A passenger in the same vehicle was also hurt but was discharged at the scene. The West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to the junction of Poden Lane and Mickleton Road, Honeybourne at 8.09am to reports of a collision involving a van and a tree.

Two paramedic officers, our Hazardous Area Response Team, the Midlands Air Ambulance Critical Care car from Strensham and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford attended the scene, alongside colleagues from South Western Ambulance Service. "Ambulance staff administered specialist trauma care to him before he was conveyed by land ambulance to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire. "Crews assessed a second patient who was a passenger in the lorry, before discharging him at the scene." A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said on Friday morning: "Emergency services are currently at the scene of a collision on Mickleton Road in Honeybourne, which occurred at around 8.10am this morning.

"A man was trapped in the vehicle and is being treated by the ambulance service, and will be conveyed to hospital. The road is currently closed on Mickleton Road at junction with Stratford Road and at the junction with the B4632 Broadway Road, and is likely to remain closed for some time."

A spokesperson for Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service said: "Four Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service crews - one each from Evesham, Broadway, Droitwich and Hereford Fire Stations - and the environmental protection unit from Tenbury Wells were called at 8.18am to an RTC involving a large vehicle on Mickleton Road, Honeybourne.

"The incident involved a lorry which had been in collision with a tree with one person trapped.

Police, ambulance and air ambulance were all in attendance with the road closed."
