Two lorry crash closes A19 northbound

The crash happened between the A67 (Crathorne Junction) and the Parkway Interchange turn off.  Cleveland Police confirmed the collision resulted in one of the lorries spilling its load onto the carriageway, requiring a major clean-up operation.  A19 Northbound closed after a two lorry crash in the early hoursA19 Northbound closed after a two lorry crash in the early hours (Image: Terry Blackburn) The road closure is expected to remain in place for some time, with National Highways managing the clean-up process. 

The outside of the southbound carriageway is also currently closed, which meant commuters saw gridlock traffic delays of up to 70 minutes this morning. Cleveland Police has confirmed there do not appear to be any serious injuries as a result of the collision.

"The road is likely to remain closed for some time as one of the vehicles spilled its load. "Drivers are being urged to avoid the area and find an alternative route where possible.
